Ok, I've heard the "old man yells at cloud" comparison numerous times, and its a bad take.

The old man is yelling at the cloud for no apparent reason. That's the joke. Whenever Cornette takes umbrage with anything, he explains in great detail why it's bad, and how it could be done better. And all of his critiques are based on one simple, fundamental principle of wrestling that is never outdated, or out of style. The principle that wrestling is always at its very best when everything makes sense.

Too much of anything can always get tiresome. And its perfectly fine to say you're not interested in cornette's modern wrestling reveiws. A little of cornette's personality goes a long way, and even as a fan of his show, I dont listen to every episode. But this narrative that he's a rambling old man who's ranting for the sake of ranting needs to stop, because thats not whats happening.

And in his defense, he IS much less biased than people claim. He’s relatively complimentary of a lot of AEW stuff. I just don’t care enough to listen to current wrestling reviews and would rather hear old stuff.

Cornette is excellent. The only thing that annoys me about the modern reviews is that they’re often the same talking points because the wrestling is so shitty and never changes. Sometimes I think he is too nice on things.
