So... Use that site daily if you're still trying to get a PS5, PS5 Digital, Xbone, or graphic cards.

If it's red at a location with the PS5 filter on - they do have one. In my experience, it's someone who's pre order expired.

Do not bother calling BB because you'll just get sent to the call center and it'll be a waste of your time. I did and someone got there and bought it right before I got there.

This time I had a buddy go to a BB down in TX and he scored it for me.

The map is pretty good at updating if it gets sold before you get there.

For example, I guarantee you there's one at the Mediterranean Drive, Estero, FL 33928 store at this moment.

Anywho...apologies if I'm an idiot and this site was already common knowledge. Happy hunting!

btw, it's not what is on the show room floor so it's not the same as using the BB website.

Yeah..... almost went that way, but there was no real advantage for me.

Like, I get that ooooooh, lights r pretty and what not...... but the age of gaming where graphics being the "Defining" factor of a "good game" are far gone.

So, I get a TON of bonuses by having a console. Then that console decided to start putting free games out on PC anyway, so its a win!

This is pretty much where I'm at. Would like a PS5 but in no rush to jump through hoops unless and until there are PS5-exclusive features in games I want that seem too good to keep holding off on getting one.

I've played some games on both the Series X and One. There is a rather noticeable difference, especially with titles like Elden Ring. Night and day difference, to be honest. Wouldn't see it in screenshots, but the overall performance, the SSD alone, is worth the upgrade.

Has plenty of value over a PC for me, easy.

05-19-2022, 06:14 PM
Yeah I'm with Destor. I got a Series X for the kids but theres really no reason. I have a vastly more powerful box that plays their games better than their system does, and it does a whole bunch of other stuff too.

Still not sure what you consider "botched" about PS3 either, Drave. It was more powerful, had higher rated games, sold more consoles (which is amazing with the inflated 360 sales due to RROD, which I had 3 of) and managed to do it while being more expensive.

rez

The only negative thing I can think back on with PS3 was developers hated to program for it...nothing on the user side.

ps3s tach is technically more powerful than ps4 its just awful to develop for.

now as far as botched the ps3 was sold at a loss so from a business sense it was a disaster but on the consumer side? good console. good library. very good bluray player.

i dont have anything against the xbox brand ftr. i just think its an obsolete product in the shadow of pc. and thats only true for it. switch and ps5 have a ton of value. now if youre fine with waiting roughly a year to play AAA titles you can honestly skip PS5 too tbh but thats a big ask for me. but thats what youre paying for with the ps5. 1 year early access.

Jesus you fannies, lol.

It has value for me as I cannot afford a PC, or the ability to keep up with the various components. I was a PC gamer for a very long time (Diablo I, II, Warcraft, Starcraft, WoW, Guild Wars I, II, too many CoD's to remember lol), and just got "out of it" as I aged I guess? I also, at this time, do not have the real estate for it. Initially, I had one hooked up like a HTPC - hidden away and yadda yadda, but the scaling went to shit when hooked to the TV we had at the time. More cost for the right cables at the time and wasn't worth it. Probably a lot more accessible now, but there's definitely no reason a PC is desirable for me, as "oooooh shiney" doesn't do it. Not fussed if I don't get to "do something first or early" either, so release dates don't concern me. Perhaps it is because I am on a computer due to my career, and I don't really get on computers much after work, so I can't think of much else I would need one for that the Series X doesn't already do for me.

The cell architecture of the PS3 indeed made it a nightmare to develop for, which was it's biggest flaw, but that is more of the tech nerd in me than the gamer. The biggest debacle I remember was Skyrim not being able to get the DLC (until many months later) due to developers having to fuck with the infrastructure of the box. I cannot remember other issues off the top of my head, and I'm not really invested enough to go look shit up, it is just my opinion.

I too, have nothing against the PS brand at all. PS5 is the first time since 2 that I've considered buying it but I just didn't.

I had family members who also bought that shit for the blu-ray. Actually, he bought 4 systems and made a lot of fucking money that year, lol.

skyrim was nearly unplayable after 100 hours on ps3. never resolved it either.

also you should look into a steam deck with a dock if you dont want the hassle of a traditional pc. its in my mind the "better xbox"

Yeah, way back when my 42inch Sharp 1080p I bought from HH Gregg had a promo that came with an $800 MSRP Sharp bluray fo free. It was dog shit slow and the PS3 knocked it outta the water. I gave the Sharp player to my sister, lol.

Skyrim on ps3 was shit because of buggy ass bethesda programming resulting in a memory leak involving the save files. Once you either played long enough or did enough stuff, whenever you loaded that save it would trigger the leak and your game wpuld drop to 3 fps.

And yeah they never even bothered to fix it. Last game of theirs i will ever buy. Bootlegs or nothing for them.

Eh, good friend of mine has a Steam deck and all the bells and whistles, but he's also a crypto miner and has a shit ton of GPU's too.

It is what it is, but it isn't worth the cost to me. The battery life is ~3 hours on a full charge and the display isn't even 1080p. Even with a usb-c powered docking station, it just isn't "there". He let me play it for a week, because he knows I'm a gamer nerd. It's neat, but doesn't feel like something that will be around in 5-10 years, really.

I've never had any issues hardware wise with any gen xbox, personally. The RROD was a massive debacle certainly, but MS making good on cost-free repairs was PrettyCool.

There were a few times I had to call customer service for some issues (son bought digital games, 360 didn't make you input a code prior to buying at one point), and they were exceptional.

Does everything I need, zero issues. Also have a lil network on there, though I don't do much multiplayer gaming anymore (time, kids, etc.). I need to read on what they have planned for the future, as I've not been paying much attention. I will say, for all the things the Xbone was initially poo poo'd for, 99% of those "features" are considered positives today.

Also have a Switch, and eagerly awaiting BOTW2. Still haven't 100% completed BOTW, as I arrived years late to that dance and then Elden Ring pulled me away again. When the PS5 drops in price, I may get it too, if not just to play the FF VII Remake, as it holds a special place in my memory//life and I'd love to revisit the re-imagining of it.

Oooh, I suspect X-Cloud gaming is going to be a "big deal". The beta right now is fucking tits man. I can play my Xbox on almost any device (obvs not my macbook) instantly, and it works very well.

Not sure if this is a "preview feature" but I can leave a game in quick resume, cast it to my phone (Samsung) (or any other device) and keep playing, while the fam watches a show or whatever else they wanna do with the system. That has been the shit.

Well.... it works on iOS but not MacOS. So there's that.

M$ def filled the void Nintendo left against Sony. I'm like Trump....I don't have huge hands (but a big dick). I always preferred the PlayStation controller. The OG XBox controller was worse than the N64.

05-22-2022, 03:14 AM
Yea my main thing with loving PS is the controller tbh. Also in the small hand/yuge penis gang gang. Its not just the size of the Xbox controller that bugs me either, it's the offset thumb sticks. Hate that. That said, the one controller and subsequent versions have been much better feeling in general than they used to.

when Microsoft releases their cloud dongle streaming stick thingy theres going to be a wild shift if the price point is >$100

drave
05-25-2022, 09:40 AM
If they price it over $100, it'll fail hard. They still have some work to do on the cloud gaming front. Maybe because I'm used to a clear, crisp experience, and cloud gaming is topped at 1080p, but most often resembles trying to watch a video on dial up.

I've used the "play now" feature of Game Pass to play games before I download them to see if it's something I wanna play.

I would imagine they have this data as well...... but there are still a LOT of areas without high-speed internet available. Verizon is kinda getting there with the 5G hotspots serving as an entire home's connection, but that still needs work as well before it can be as "reliable" as the copper//fiber standard.

Interesting for sure. A much cheaper entry into gaming, even more so when consoles are still harder to come by than normal.

Website says they've got one at my local Best Buy.

Figured I'd swing by at lunch since it's close by, bigass sign out front saying "PS5 not available at this store".

Went in, asked if there was really one in stock, showed them the site and got looked at like I had 3 heads. They go back to "check" anyway. Nope. Walked out PS5-less.

So the site's either wrong, out of date, or the staff set them aside for their buddies. Ah well.

Honestly would rather just buy one through Amazon anyway, years of people giving me Amazon gift cards when I barely online shop have made it so that I can pay for like 90% of the cost of getting one.

I'm quite willing to admit I could be wrong about what happened in your particular circumstance though.
