I hate to shit in everyone's oatmeal, but someone has to.

I mentioned 2 things could go horribly wrong. Here were my guesses.

1. Max Caster going too far on the mic.
2. Moxley working like Moxley and not dialing it back.

I almost said three, with MJF going a bit too far.

If I had, I would have been 2/3. Best case scenario is the Executives not showing up. Because a TV guy seeing a guy drop an F Bomb (it wasn't censored live) or seeing Moxley bleed all over the place may not leave the best taste in their mouth. I probably would have let MJF sell the beating this week and maybe, just maybe, put someone Other than Moxley in that match. I mean, it's not like they don't have a shit basket of people they don't use. But, I'm not Booker of the Year. Good luck with that new deal.

Also, there's the whole thing that isn't wrestling related. They are two weeks removed from trying to sell advertisers (half-assedly) on AEW. They show up to the programming and seeing a guy on the edge of Prime Time bleeding all over the place. You pay to watch HBO (at least that was the model back in the day.) You don't have to pay to watch TBS. So they rely on Advertisers more. If they say "we can't get advertisers to watch this." They may be in trouble. If they don't think they can sell advertising during commercial breaks, it doesn't matter what the Demo is or the ratings are, there is no show. And it really only takes one executive who is predisposed NOT to like wrestling to run them off the programming.

Last night (pre-Dynamite) I was convinced the MJF situation was a/had been turned into a work to pave the way to Punk/MJF. Now after MJF cuts a pipe bomb I’m certain. They’re setting up MJF in the mould of Punk (disgruntled and disprespected) and Punk as the company guy, it’s role reversal and MJF will call it out. Punk’s gonna be the guy saying “know your place, put in the hours” and Max is gonna be the guy calling Punk out as a hypocrite.

The MJF segment, while a work, was pretty cool to watch. He's a very rare talent in this day and age that actually lives his gimmick in and out of the ring. The real life Max has become MJF completely and I admire that. I wonder what he's really like backastage or if he stays in character in the back as well. I normally like MJF despite me thinking hes a cheap heat guy from time to time but I'm not too interested in TK vs. MJF ATM.

TK isnt an onscreen guy so you need someone to be TKs guy if there gonna go this route. Ironically the perfect guy was probably Cody, you coud really do some fun stuff with that dynamic maybe even getting Cody to a World title via it at some point.

Miro wasn’t announced beforehand and Johnny Elite came out to open up that segment of the show. So I could see viewers going meh and missing out on the Miro return. Should’ve had Elite come out during the break and Miro’s pre match vignette open up the return from commercials.

I agree. I expected a 20 opening segment where he cuts a very heart felt promo about being the champ and blah blah blah. I think they missed the mark there. Could’ve had his 6 man tag main event. I know that’s a WWE style of programming but for your new champ I’d absolutely do that.

Yeah.... especially when you have a big PPV with a new champ who might draw some eyeballs back. Eyeballs that may have tuned in to see his debut, but then tuned out after it went nowhere.... but then heard he won the title so tuned in to see the fallout....

I didn't tune in I guess, but I did actively go to their YouTube channel and seek out video... and laughed when I found that the video "The New AEW World Champion Kicks Off The Summer of Punk" was just his entrance (shortened by FTR entrance) and a pointless match.... not a great way to follow up his big win.

I get it that they want to be a more "wrestling oriented" company, but there are times when you just need to have a promo segment.

That’s possibly it. This sort of stuff also buries the company/show you are watching. That could have something to do with it too.

This is a big problem with AEW. They are so focused on what the WWE does/doesn’t do that will avoid things that make sense.
