So, I decided that I wanted to do a King of the Forum Style Tournament for Tag Teams, to determine the best tag team of all time, according to the TPDub. Big thing is, I tried to make it so a wrestler can only be on team, else a good fourth of the tournament would be teams containing either Cesaro, Arn Anderson, or Bobby Eaton. As such, some good teams are not listed. I will also note the members if there are more than one version I could go with. There is a caveat coming up, and I'll discuss it then. Here are the participants...

American Wolves
The Assassins
Badd Company
Blue Bloods (Stephen Regal and Dave Taylor)
Brain Busters (Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard)
Brisco Brothers
Briscoes
British Bulldogs
Crusher and Bruiser
Demolition (Ax and Smash)
Destruction Crew
Dream Team (Greg Valentine and Brutus Beefcake)
The Dudleyz
Edge and Christian
Eliminators
Fabulous Ones (Steve Keirn and Stan Lane)
Fabulous Rougeau Brothers
Fantastics (Bobby Fulton and Tommy Rogers)
Freebirds (Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin)
FTR
Gangstas
Good Brothers
Guerrillas of Destiny
Hart Foundation
Hardy Boyz
Harlem Heat
Headshrinkers
Headbangers
Heavenly Bodies (Tom Pritchard and Jimmy Del Ray)
Islanders
Jerry Lawler and Bill Dundee
Mega Powers
Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Dennis Condrey)
Minnesota Wrecking Crew (Ole and Gene Anderson)
Miracle Violence Connection
Motor City Machine Guns
The Mulkeys (The odds on favorite to win)
Nasty Boys
New Age Outlaws
New Day
Outsiders
Pat Patterson and Ray Stephens
Powers of Pain
The R and R's (Manny Fernandez and Rick Rude)
Ricky Steamboat and Jay Youngblood
Road Warriors (Hawk and Animal)
Rock n Roll Express
Rockers
Sheepherders
Steiner Brothers
Stud Stable (Rob Fuller and Jimmy Golden)
U.S. Express
The Usos
Wild Samoans
World's Greatest Tag Team
Young Bucks

Now for the Caveat: For the last 8 teams, I couldn't pick between two teams with a shared member. Or in the case of the Hollywood Blondes, Two different teams with the same name. As such, I wanted to do a 3 day poll to determine who will be represented.

*Los Gringos Locos (Eddie Guerrero and Art Barr) or Los Guerreros (Eddie and Chavo Guerrero)
*Beer Money, Inc (Bobby Roode and James Storm or America's Most Wanted (Chris Harris and James Storm)
*Doom (Butch Reed and Ron Simmons or APA (Farooq and Bradshaw)
*Brothers of Destruction (Kane and Undertaker) or Team Hell No! (Kane and Daniel Bryan)
*Kings of Wrestling (Claudio Castagnolli and Chris Hero) or The Bar (Sheamus and Cesaro)
*Lightning Express (Brad Armstrong and Tim Horner) or Brad Armstrong and "The Bullet"
*The Hollywood Blonds (Buddy Roberts and Jerry Brown) or the Hollywood Blonds (Steve Austin and Brian Pillman)
*Strike Force (Rick Martel and Tito Santana) or Rick Martel and Tony Garrea

After this, I will do a draw special to determine the first round matches. First Round will be done up into 4 groups. Second Round done up into 2 groups.

Great list! Disappointed though that Too Much/Too Cool didn’t make it in. I thought they were great heels at the beginning as Too Much, and they were one of the most popular teams at a really major time in wrestling.

I would have them in ahead of teams like Headbangers or Good Brothers.

Voted on my phone so I hope I didn't fuck it up.

Great idea. Love tag teams.

Not sure why you were worried about putting multiple teams with the same guy in though. Fuck it.

Team Hell No so much more entertaining than the hypothetically good but in reality bad tag team of Kane and Undertaker. I can't name one good match with Kane and Taker as a team.

Team Hell No were entertaining and a big part of Daniel Bryan’s acclimation into WWE. The Undertaker & Kane teaming up felt like a waste of energy outside maybe some of their 1998 stuff where Vince used them against Austin, if you really consider that period them teaming (can’t remember an actual tag team match).

I think Kane had better teams with X-Pac and even Mankind.

Imagine if WWE booked The Invasion all awesome and they had booked The Outsiders vs The Brothers of Destruction, that would have been sick. Probably wouldn't have been that good of a match but still, woulda been cool.

Team Hell No had better matches, but for me, the sheer presence and aura of BoD wins out.

I don’t remember any specific matches from either team.

In the Event of a tie during The Qualifyers, both teams are Eliminated, Giving way to Alternates.

Texas Outlaws
RVD and Sabu
Impact Players
Wild Eyed Southern Boys
Hardliners

There’s a universe out there where that did happen, and Nash got hurt and Hall got drunk and the Invasion was still a big mess.

Poor Garea and Martel lol. They were a great team.

Garea’s hurt by a lack of familiarity, I think. I’m only familiar with him from the historical context that he was a pretty hot babyface tag guy from way back. The Lapsed Fan just did a bit of coverage on the guy from the Colosseum releases. But I just haven’t been exposed to him that much, whereas people have seen a bit of Strike Force.

Art Barr >>>>> Chavo

But I get why people chose Los Guerreros.

Also, the Alternates broke my rule. LOL (Hardliners and Texas Outlaws both have Dick Murdoch. Meh.)

Doesn't look like I'll need to go that far down. I would replace Hardliners with Blade Runners.

Strike Force are a better team definitely. The WWF over the years has ignored everything pre 1984 so it's expected

Those who are less familiar with Art Barr would go with Los Guerreros because they didn't know how good he was in the ring. Folks who are more familiar with Art Barr may be more willing to go with Los Guerreros because they know the reason why Art Barr only worked in Portland and Mexico after his WCW run ended.

So the Qualifiers are:

Los Guerreros
Beer Money Inc.
APA
Team Hell No!
The Bar
Texas Outlaws*
Hollywood Blonds (Steve Austin and Brian Pillman)
Strike Force

*Texas Outlaws Qualified as an alternate because Brad Armstrong and the Bullet tied with Lightning Express, eliminating both. And I am willing to bet someone voted to tie them back up because all of the Alternates may have been better options than either of these two. And, that's a fair assessment.

Tuesday, I am gonna do the drawing for the first round. And, shortly after that, Group A of the first round will be up.

Oh he was a peice of shit alright. But how many other people in this industry do awful shit and still get brought up in discussions of best ever? And thats just the stuff we know about. I doubt anyone from older generations is squeaky clean.

Except Steamboat. That man wouldn’t have popped an aspirin without his wife’s permission.

Yeah, but what else did his wife make him do?

Could be a whole family buried in his back yard that Mrs. Steamboat wanted gone.

Honestly though, you think anyone checked ID on all those ring rats back in the day? Theyre all probably pedophiles.

Some people can separate the talent from their actions outside their professional field. Other people can’t. To each their own.

Just don’t do a Jordynne Grace and try to use someone’s unpopularity as an actor outside wrestling as a veil to misrepresent talent.

The whole her being underage is the least troubling part of the Art Barr controversy.
