Yeah these AEW "homegrown" guys are probably not loving the polished WWE guys coming in and "taking" their spots. lol and even then, most of the great WWE guys are being wasted.

Having a giant roster is a symptom of the problem and not the cause of it.

Having competition can be a driving force, but you need a booker who is going to be able to discern between what is good and what is bad. Tony is not that guy. He thinks his shit doesn’t stink.

Also, I don't believe a god damned thing leaked through wrestling media. Much of the AEW stuff comes from the EVPs, based on history (folks are secretly happy about Cody leaving, anyone?).

So, I base my opinion on what I have actually seen and observed from the parties involved. So, it is a bunch of cringy edgelords on 1 side and a miserable, mediocre shithead on the other. So, to close this as it opens, I want all parties involved to lose.

SRS generally seems to be the best of the bunch in terms of gathering sources and breaking stories. But even then, some of his reporting around the MJF stuff a few months ago didn't quite sit right, like the guy openly acknowledged that he texts with MJF fairly often and yet he has no more meaningful insight on what actually went on anyone else? I just came away with feeling like it was a purposeful withholding of information.

And now with all of the "leaks" coming out this week, SRS's reports are substantially more damning on Punk than anyone else. Nobody else has reported much more than "Punk went offscript" or "Punk and Page don't actually like each other".

Thing about SRS is he's repeatedly said he's not a journalist. Dude went onto Joey Janela's Spring Break this year portraying a heel version of himself. It's pretty clear to me that, if ever one of the dirt sheet guys were to try to get involved in an angle, it would be him. Not saying he is or isn't but it's reason enough to not believe everything you see from him.

Meltzer I don't doubt reports what he believes to be true, but I also don't think he'd possess the social awareness to even know if he was being worked.

No one is on the money. I used to defend Dave as being someone that reports the hearsay he receives. I don’t care if journalists have biases. It’s just become insufferable to read/hear the constant spin to make one side look good and another side look bad, with smears and discreditation to anyone who doesn’t perceive things through the same lens.

More and more negative stories are coming out about AEW. This might be a sign that the appetite for news that isn’t licking the boot might be getting whet. When that happens, I’ll be more skeptical of that, since there’s a market for it. For a long time the market has been “WWE bad” and these guys are all trying to sell something.

I also don’t believe that talent talks to these guys as much as they used to. The dirt sheets used to be a way to get information in a guarded business out. Now all these idiots have social media. They don’t need a good relationship with any of them to get their side across.

I wanted to revisit this remark, because I do stand by it, but there has to be a bit of distinction. On one side, you have a delusional nitwit who has an overinflated opinion of themselves and has been humbled on more than one occasion, and hilariously so. The other side has CM Punk. Whether I agree or disagree with various AEW issues, one I don't understand is this "roster is too big" one.

They have precisely the same problem WWE has had forever on this front: they could accomidate more of said unused, languishing talent (such as it may be) if they STOPPED FOCUSING ON THE SAME 10 PEOPLE EVERY GODDAMN SHOW!

Objectively, guys like Punk, Jericho, Mox, Danielson, and Garcia don't have to be on TV every week. As much as Max Castor is getting over by flexing his pre-med Masters in Thuganomics, he dosen't need to be on TV all the time.

I say it's like WWE because that was in theory why they have two shows with 5 hours of cable TV time AND a brand split: it was supposed to breathe new life into parts of the roster that would otherwise be untapped. But what ended up happening? "Free agents" and champions appearing on both shows. Person X being in anywhere from 3-5 segments per show. One of the three or four established tag teams continuing a never ending feud.

Where AEW one-ups them is that they also blow through material that can and should last a few months, and instead, they burn up an angle in like three weeks, and in that three weeks, they've had barbed wire matches, blown up one another's cars, and one person kidnapped and/or mind raped somone who means something to someone. No time to let it breathe or even explain why. Just on to the next! Faster faster!!
