They set a very high bar for themselves over their first 2.5 years on TV. Not that there weren't lulls during that span (definitely a couple of lulls during the Daily's Place void, especially when NBA moved their schedule around) but they've also had multiple periods where they felt must-watch every week, especially when they got back on the road last year.
Thing is I never thought it would be sustainable for them to stay red hot all the time, not when you run 52 weeks a year and are booked by a guy whose mind goes a mile a minute and seems to have too much on his plate as is.
I think a segment of the fanbase struggles with the come-down. They know how good the programming is capable of being, so it gets all the more frustrating when the booking seems to have gone off the rails the last few months. But I don't agree with people acting like they're watching 2000 Nitro, either.

The annoying thing to me is, if you had told me the night of DON that this would be the All Out card, I'd have been into it. Plenty of stuff about this card I like, don't doubt at all it'll be a good show.
But the way they got to it was just fairly baffling. Tony needs to lay off the coke. Not entirely. Just (ron the) dial it back to the moderate amount of coke he was doing last summer.

I get the feeling we'll see Ospreay as the joker.
Surely too predictable to be an MJF
However....really dumb to have Ospreay/Omega feud for months on social media and culminate that not on a ppv but a go home show to a ppv

I don't think that's totally the case though. We should not be having this many 6 man tag matches on a ppv especially when they're handing out those silly titles. Why is it not Miro v Black in a one on one? Why have those two not been prominently featured?
Why the F did Morrisay debut last night? Its not the worst thing in the world but to me the timing is the most baffling.
Those are just the first two things that came to mind not even talking about whatever they're doing with the championship, Wardlow, MJF.......
Just no consistency to anything. You can't make it up by throwing a couple of workers on the card and them having a "good wrestling match"
Yeah, its not always gonna be white hot but it should never feel like no one has a clear idea wtf is going on week to week. The fact that "momentum" (whatever your definition of that is) has gone back to WWE after the garbage they've been since AEW hit the scene is just sad.
WWE probably does not deserve as much recent praise as I or others have been giving it but...
It's just such a swing from where it was. Since H took over we haven't seen any 24/7 or cringe comedy bits, the backstage stuff all of sudden feels organic, the promos and commentary are more improvised and we've heard the words wrestling, wrestler and hospital on tv. We've gotten vignettes treating the mid card titles as part of an important legacy. And there's a genuine focus on more tag teams and new talent getting significant pushes. We know there's a few more people that will return to the company and callups coming in the near future as well. All HHH had to do was stop doing the things Vince did that most fans disliked (hoping the camera cuts are going away soon next...). All Tony Khan had to do was book AEW like he did a year or two ago and instead everything is all over the place.
Will ALL OUT be a fun, good ppv? I'm sure it will be. But how we got there is a strange, unorganized path and it doesn't make me feel like there is a strong plan post ALL OUT.
WWE went from 2-3 minute matches followed by 20 minutes of wacky goofball hijinks to 60 second backstage interviews followed by 20 minutes of wrestling.
AEW went from a show I was crazy about because it was only two hours a week and 4 ppvs a year to a company with a roster the same size as WWE, three hours a week and mutiple YouTube shows (I still never watch those) and now tv specials and ROH as well.
Part of the appeal of AEW was 'less is more' as a time commitment as a viewer. Now there's all this time and talent and TK doesn't seem to have a game plan.
Guessing they debuted Morrisey as Tony had heralded the show as a “must see” and the fans have been conditioned to believe that means someone debuts.
Do I think WWE will go off the rails again at some point, absolutely. Towards the end of HHH's NXT Black & Gold reign I was sick of seeing Gargano, Ciampa, Adam Cole and the 24,000 kickouts each match at a Takeover.
But WWE is likely to feel fresh through (at least) WrestleMania season with callups and returns and the Rumble/WM itself.
I put some of that down to the top of NXT being filled out with guys they couldn’t shift to the main roster. NXT felt fresh a lot of the time because your top guys would move on and somebody else would fill the top of the card.

Vince and the main roster killed a lot of what made NXT good by burying pretty much every callup after Kevin Owens. Once the track record was in place that nobody built up to matter in NXT would go on to do much of anything on the main roster, it made the NXT run irrelevant, no matter if it was good or not. It just didn't matter.

So that fan Phil went off on, apparently it was because he tried to start a Colt Cabana chant. I hope Phil gets hit by a bus.

Lol so some big, fat PHILBAD mark tried to get a dig in on Punk and Punk burned him. Now The Brotherhood of Big, Fat PHILBAD Marks is mad because they don’t like when their shit is called out.
I hope he went home and wrote a scathing letter to Tony Khan about how his right to derp without repercussions was infringed on and he may never have his mom buy a ticket again.

I can see it now.
Punk and Moxley bloody and tear each other up for 20 minutes. Then Ace Steel comes out and reveals it was never a match. The contract he gave Punk to sign was, like Punk himself, a fake. He gave the real one to his other trainee, the one who was really knocked down and really had to get back up and fight.
BOOM BOOM, COLT CABANA
BOOM BOOM, COLT CABANA
BOOM BOOM, COLT CABANA
IT'S COLT CA-BA-NA
Colt picks off a weakened Moxley to shockingly win the AEW Championship. Mox and Punk forge a temporary alliance to seek revenge. Colt appeals to the Dark Order for help but Hangman convinces them to stay neutral.
So it seems Colt is all alone. But fortunately, wrestling has more than one royal family...

Buzzed to check this one. I haven't missed these posts, but really man lol.
Me blocking you has really rendered you into a fucking idiot. The point was Phil got THAT triggered over one guy chanting Colt Cabana. Do you really think people are upset Phil yelled at a fan? People are mad because Phil continues to do anything possible to hurt Colt Cabana, so much so that he is lashing out at one random person in a building of 9000 people because how dare he say that traitor's name in Phil's hemisphere.
Stop being so outlandish that other people reach out to me to tell you to STFU.

At this point just admitting you lied about ignoring me for the third time might be less embarrassing than awkwardly having to come up with an excuse to respond when you get extra BOILING.

So fucking stupid. And people lapping it up like idiots too. This is why no one wants to be in a crowd with wrestling fans. And who are the commentators? They’re ABYSMAL.

Also, if Punk was trying to hurt Colt Cabana, he would have roasted Colt Cabana. He roasted the guy who was clearly trying to get himself over by attempting and failing to start a “controversial” chant during his promo. That’s what triggered the pack. Stop being a disingenuous fucktard.

Lol Good for that fan. And in his defense, he may have laughed it off and taken it all in stride. So it might be unfair to completely lump him in with the whiny cumdorx crowd desperately trying to call foul.
