There’s equity in taking guys the other promotion doesn’t know how to use and getting mileage out of them. Fish is a talented guy. Getting up there in age, but still in great shape and a believable worker.
At first I thought about him joining Maximum Male Models as their “Premium Daddy.” But that’s too predictable. Then I thought about a group he could join. Bobby Fish should become the fourth member of The New Day.
Have Fish return to the WWE and beat Happy Corbin in an open challenge or something. He can slap hands with Pat McAfee after the match or something. Fish them beats up some enhancement guy cutting a promo against the local town. All the while Fish is on the way up, he’s doing backstage segments with Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods. He says he’s been writing them about the influence of their positivity on his life. It was hard growing up with a name like “Fish,” but you guys have helped me cope. That sort of stuff. He can help them beat The Viking Raiders one week, but they keep knocking him back. Eventually he gets Ludvig Kaiser and wins that match to get Gunther for the IC Title. They have a brutal little match, but Gunther retains the belt.
Fish is in a slump after that. He takes the loss to heart. The New Day show up and cheer him up and offer him what he’s been after — a spot in The New Day.
This adds variance to the group again. Woods & Kofi have someone new to riff off in the ring. Fish can bring some technical stuff to the group and even have a bit of a darker edge at times, maybe be a bit overbearing in the group (he starts calling himself a two-time WWE Champion and King of the Ring because they share achievements). He starts wearing brightly colored gear.
Eventually, if he catches on, Fish could even challenge Gunther for the IC Title and win. If Big E comes back, they can be uneasy around each other, but eventually have them iron out their differences and eventually win a tag match together (maybe with the Tag Titles on the line).
