I feel like it is only a few weeks old, but I also may not have been paying attention either. It is a very forgettable theme.

Gable v Gargano was good but not long enough.
Also not sure if Theory is gonna feud with KO, Gargano or both, but I approve.

They make Shawn Michaels look like Brock.

Much like everybody in AEW, Hook has not evolved in the slightest in many months. Tiny Khan, booker of the year

Triple H might be better than Vince in some ways, but he’s got his blind-spots too. NXT was great for a while, but it was also a slog for a long time too. He falls into patterns and a lot of acts post-Owens as champion fell kinda flat.
Apparently WWE want to split the 2 World titles before Mania but don’t want to beat Roman before then (guessing to get us to Roman/Rock and Rhodes winning the Big One) but they “can’t work out how to do it”.
Simple. You run back “The Greatest Heist” and have Theory do a mid-match cash in during a match between Roman and Seth. Have Theory come close but eventually get wrecked by both other guys, one arm of each man over Theory for the pin. Resolution is to split the belts back up. Seth goes back to Raw with the WWE Championship, Cody returns in the Rumble and wins. Cody takes the belt off Seth at Mania.

Just do a ladder match in which each man pulls down one title.
They don’t run TLC in December anymore. How do you get to a Ladder Match without it being necessitated by a gimmick show?
Evil Vito

Rollins got screwed by DQ when they wrestled at the Rumble, so he has ammo to demand some form of gimmick match right from the jump.

The idea of splitting the titles waters down each one. Cody winning “the big one” doesn’t have the same gravity if he gets it from the B-champion. They’ve just fixed this problem.

Just unify Romans titles and make a new one.
Sepholio
09-14-2022, 04:17 PM
If only they didn't have so much work ahead of them to rehab the image of the US/IC titles. Those could be used as de facto RAW/SD championships while Roman holds the entire companies championship above them.
Mr. Nerfect
09-14-2022, 07:29 PM
That’s what they’re doing. Lashley was WWE Champion earlier this year and hasn’t been beaten at a stadium show this year. He’s got the US Title as a pretty popular and credible babyface. Gunther is undefeated, right? He’s been IC Champion and just had a five star match for the title in front of Bret Hart.
I mean, you’re entitled to your opinion, of course, but the secondary titles have been treated as pretty important deals in-universe for a while.

They've been treated importantly for about 3 months after years and years of utter neglect.

They’ve had a pretty good run, really. Lots of pretty memorable moments for the belts over the past decade.

John Cena's US title run was the only time they've been treated as important as they were in yesteryear.
Nakamura never even got a ppv match as IC champ.
Been doing better since HHH took over. Hopefully that sticks.

Man, hopefully they can have Nakamura "go" with Zayn or someone who can throw out a banger or two with him.

Cena had a good run. The Alberto/Kalisto stuff was kind of weak, but the belt found its way onto Roman Reigns and was involved in the Jericho/Owens feud that people loved (I didn’t). You had AJ, Orton, Nakamura and Jeff as champions. The Rey/Joe stuff wasn’t hot, but the Lashley/Crews stuff was good. And that takes us to latest stretch of Riddle, Sheamus, Priest, Balor and Theory to where we are now.
It was always hot stuff, but the belt has been put on credible guys to keep it visible and “humming” along nicely. It’s mainly been used as the consolation prize for talent that aren’t being used in the A1 main event.
In AEW, Danielson would likely be the US Champion. Or Chris Jericho. Maybe Sting.
The IC Title was kind of used that way, but it’s gone through phases of being the “banger” championship. Ziggler and Harper. Bryan and Ambrose got the consolation reigns. Ziggler and Miz had the SmackDown feud people raved about. Rollins, Strowman and Big E all had runs to prep them for the main event. Zayn, Styles and Jeff had the Ladder Match stuff. Nakamura was protected like anything as champion.
In AEW, Jon Moxley, Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, Brodie Lee, Sammy Guevara, Dax Harwood and Darby Allin would be likely choices for IC Champion. There are brief times the TNT Title has kind of looked like how WWE has treated the IC Title.
It doesn’t have to be for everyone. I’ve been such a critic of the WWE, but they haven’t treated the belt as an afterthought for the longest time.

At best it was booked equivalent to a TV or European title. If the belts are to be the top title for respective brand, they'll need to do better.
Gunther's reign has started to pick up, but Lashley has lately just been a side player in the miz vs lumis story. He's also mind numbingly boring as a white meat babyface.
Pull Lashley away from miz, turn him heel and keep him the hell away from the microphone.

Maybe not turn him heel but make him meaner. That edge he had as a heel is what got him over but he can still utilize it as a face instead of his current "happy to be here" persona

And the rumours are they want to unfix it.
I’m quite happy with the one champ situation but they’ve “booked themselves into a corner” and are “looking for ideas to get out of it”. I’m just offering options to the problem they perceive themselves to have.
Albeit this is ever so slightly negative about WWE so is definitely not true.

I disagree. I think it’s just a wrestling fan myth, like AEW values tag team wrestling. Do you really consider Daniel Bryan and Dean Ambrose on the level of Crash Holly? Come on now.
Fans were raving about the Miz/Ziggler series. Overrating it, in my opinion, but raving about it. I’m not saying that the WWE didn’t use to be better, but there is a recency bias when it comes to the IC and US Title.
Lashley is fine. He’s a stable champ going through a period where he isn’t in the hottest program, no. But he seems pretty over and fills his spot well. He’s turned into quite the worker. PWI just made him #5 for the year, for whatever that’s worth.

I wasn’t accusing you of being the architect of the idea, lol. I’m just saying it’s a bad one and I don’t believe that they’re actually going to do it. And no, I don’t believe the story. Did it come from Meltzer?
