There's movies like Shawshank and Tombstone if they're on TV, I'll force myself to click on out of awesome.

The TV lately has been broadcasting Summer Rental a lot. I've watched it so many times...not to mention it's been slapping down The Great Outdoors - the best movie ever. Also, Space Balls. It seems it's the year of the late great John Candy.

Life is good.

PS. I wish Uncle Buck was my unk.

Always thought Planes, Trains and Automobiles was one of the more underrated holiday movies ever. He and Steve Martin are ridiculously likeable together.

Oh my god, I was exposed to that movie WAAAAAAY too young, lol.
My mom was with some dude who was a huge metal guy. I remember not understanding how a cartoon could be so, whatever it was at the time (my brain was so confused, lol).

First cartoon titties.

Spaceballs is one of my favorite films of all time. I reeeeeeeeally wanted the flame thrower (and still do!).

It suffers from being a Thanksgiving film what with nobody else having any thanks to give.
It is the best film Steve Martin and John Candy ever made. It’s the most evenly paced, most manipulatively plotted and also the most densely filled with solid gags.

I’d say it’s the least John Hughes movie that John Hughes ever made, it’s also his best.

Steve Martin was great in so many ok films, but TPA is all time. It actually holds value as a piece of art.
The power ballad of films.

I’d put it just behind The Jerk.

Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid is a funnier film than The Jerk IMO, that cleaning woman bit absolutely kills me.

“He hates these cans! Stay away from the cans!” is the best “This is so fucking stupid” belly laugh for me every time.

Kinda love Three Amigos too. But Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid might be my #3.

Three Amigos is great but Martin Short is the key player there.

I need to watch that film he did where he’s a bratty weird looking kid again. So bizarre…

I was thinking we need a Steve Martin thread as to not just piss on John Candy by making this about someone else.

But now I’m thinking “If this discussion we’re taking place in a Steve Martin thread then I’d start going on about how great Martin Short is and how much of a guilty pleasure ‘Clifford’ is, thus pissing on Steve Martin.”

It’s as though we have the exact same taste in comedy. It was you that loved Dickie Roberts too wasn’t it?

Clifford is like an even more unhinged “What About Bob?”.
So fucking weird…

We’d end up talking about Charles Grodin if we had a John Hughes or Martin Short thread…

Underrated!

Charles Grodin’s talk show appearances are legendary.

I don’t remember expressing love for Dickie Roberts though I don’t remember hating it. It’s been a while.

Love Joe Dirt though.

Fear not my sons. Saint John Candy would not be offended to share his thread with those fine comedic actors.

If it was a Christmas movie it would probably be a "beloved yearly classic".... but because it is Thanksgiving instead, very few people care

Clifford is def an underrated movie. Don't forget about "Clifford's"' Charles Grodin. So good in many movies. I loved them Beethoven (the dog) movies!
