I’ll say this: my cynicism for AEW and Tony Khan aside, with ROH not having a TV show, Jericho is a pretty perfect choice as champion. He never set foot there, which makes it even better.

He can cut promos about how he saved ROH was smoky bingo halls. He’s also a good choice to be a #2 champion. He can act like his belt is a real World Title while also slinking in the background afraid to step up to Moxley and put it all on the line.

If they wanted to go balls-deep for a story for Final Battle, Jericho can threaten to retire the title and ROH if he wins at that show. Puts more emphasis on a face victory. If that’s the route they’re going.

I don’t like ROH’s chances of getting a reputable television spot (Rampage is in a death slot, that’s how much sway Tony Khan has), but if you’re going to have the two World Titles, Jericho is your best bet for ROH Champ.

Thing is though, they’re obviously not “drafting” Jericho to ROH. He’d be viewed as too big of a name to not appear on AEW TV. He’d 100% still be on AEW TV even as ROH champ.

So that wouldn’t solve the problem of tying up AEW time with ROH stuff

What's more damning to me is that they didn't fully utilize the people still in the building. Like the Lucha Bros were on Dark. Why? On a show like this, throw them against literally anyone and you'll get a decent match instead of awkwardly stretching out Saraya and Britt yapping.

Triple H and Stephanie made Paige a thing in NXT with their very focused presentation of her. She was all about wrestling and had this darker look. They called her “The Anti-Diva.” Then she got to the main roster and she proved herself to be very much a Diva lol. She was young, but she was immature on top of that. She was exposed in the ring and as a personality. It all kind of went poof. They looked after her. I’ve got no clue why The Rock chose to make the movie about her, but that happened. She got hurt, sucked at everything non-wrestling related, and now we’re here.
