P.S. I'd like to apologize to all wrestling forum posters for my recent conduct. In my attempt to stand up for Smeat and others who were driven away, I ended up becoming a part of the problem (again). I've decided to take it easy and just enjoy the wrestling. Cheers!

Damn, that's the card? Guess I'm going to a friend's house after watching Oppenheimer to watch SummerSlam.... usually one of their "big shows" but that card seems really "mid"....

lol @ Ricochet randomly having a match vs Logan Paul.... or maybe not random, they have probably had stuff on TV to make the match.... but "random" in the sense that no one cares about seeing Ricochet and he is obviously just been pushed into a "high spot" temporarily just to do the job to Logan Paul while doing some flippy stuff with Logan that will make for a good social media highlight....

I could get behind Rollins/Balor if it wasn't for the superfluous world title that I'm still not over how stupid it was to make....

Wish Rhea Ripley had a match on the show rather than Ronda/Shayna...

Michael Cole & Wade Barrett are moving to Monday nights whereas Kevin Patrick and Corey Graves will call Smackdown alongside Michael Cole.

Ew. Geezer Rock.

GD
08-05-2023, 08:06 PM
Looks like Logan Paul got his wish. He might make it to his brother's match in time.

Sepholio
08-05-2023, 08:06 PM
Couldn't they get someone better from the area? I dunno, like Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent Jay? They rep Detroit even though they live 20 miles away.

GD
08-05-2023, 08:09 PM
Crowd is very loud for the opener.

Sepholio
08-05-2023, 08:11 PM
I want a camera crew to go with Logan after this match. Think it would be interesting to see them rushing to get all the way to Dallas and the AA Center in time. I don't see how he makes it in time.

Sepholio
08-05-2023, 08:12 PM
That was a sweet apron spot, looked brutal.

GD
08-05-2023, 08:13 PM
What's the consensus on Corey Graves' commentary? I find him a bit unbearable at times.

Sepholio
08-05-2023, 08:14 PM
now I'm expecting Strowman to show up

Sepholio
08-05-2023, 08:17 PM

Sepholio
08-05-2023, 08:23 PM
that was a pretty big leap on the frog splash from Paul and it looked effortless af for him

GD
08-05-2023, 08:25 PM
The fans in attendance actually believe Ricochet might pin Paul.

Sepholio
08-05-2023, 08:27 PM
now go give your brother those knucks. Have a feeling he might need em.

GD

xrodmuc316
08-05-2023, 09:34 PM
JD McDonagh is on RAW? That's a surprise.

They introduced the idea of him joining Judgement Day, then Vince rewrote a few scripts and that was the first time he has been on TV in about 2 months

GD
08-05-2023, 09:38 PM
I'm not averse to Baszler-Rousey despite the crowd reaction. It's an interesting change of pace.

Sepholio
08-05-2023, 09:38 PM
lol Shayna murdered Rousey. Nice.

GD
08-05-2023, 09:45 PM
Jesus Christ, what happened to the audio during McIntyre's entrance?

GD
08-05-2023, 10:12 PM
As much as I would love to see Balor win the championship, I know it's nothing more than a pipe dream at this point.

GD
08-05-2023, 10:34 PM

Back from watching Summerslam at a friend's house.

Logan Paul vs Ricochet was an ok opener. As I suspected it was just Ricochet being given a little push to job to Paul... but weird that they didn't do anything at all that was really "highlight worthy"... thought that would have been half the point. Still really enjoy Logan's work...

Cody vs Lesnar was pretty standard Brock match that dragged on too long. Don't like Lesnar shaking his hand after... feels like face Roman Reigns all over again where they will try to have all the other rasslers endorse their new "hand picked" "guy"....

Battle Royale was fun. Always enjoy them. Casual fan we were watching with really likes LA Knight, and seems like fans are really behind him, so right move with the win.

Ronda vs Shayna was a short weird little match. I suppose if Ronda was leaving, giving her friend the rub on the way out is pretty good.

Gunther vs Drew McIntyre was a "banger", as to be expected. Love these type of heavy hitting matches.

Rollins vs Balor was a good match. Really wanted Balor to win, and don't like having the tension in Judgement Day just yet.

Asuka/Biance/Charlotte was fun. There was a lot of botches and awkwardness in this match or it seemed to me. They did a good job with the fake injury... friends and I all thought it was legit....

IYO cashes in and wins right away. Cool I guess.

Roman Reigns vs Jey Uso was pretty good, and what a dastardly ending. Lost its luster a little bit after WM and after making a new world title... but I am still super invested in seeing who takes the belt off of Roman, and to where the story goes from here

It was a good show overall but the Drowsy/Shayna match was a disaster and the main-event was just ok.

The 45 min Roman matches with multiple false finishes and interference spots feels a bit played out. He's been having the same ppv match for about 3 years now it seems.

I appreciate that Gunther is one of the few heels who is allowed to win clean. Cody/Brock was the most memorable thing for me and I liked hearing the post match stuff with Brock was improvised and not planned ahead of time. Seth/Balor was really good and the battle royal finally gave us some momentum for LA Knight.

Curious to see where cody goes from here. Please not Bray.

The way Drew stormed off after losing hints at a heel turn in his future to me. I would be fine with a heel Drew occupying some time with Cody.

Also would be interested in heel edge vs cody and RKO vs Cody.

Would prefer Bray never returns.

Lock Jaw

@slik

But what if Bray comes back wearing a cape and reveals that Sister Abigail was actually Sister Abi-Gail Kim?

The 45 min Roman matches with multiple false finishes and interference spots feels a bit played out. He's been having the same ppv match for about 3 years now it seems.

As a casual fan who only watches the "big events" I don't mind it and am not tired of it yet. I actually feel like Roman's run is pretty much the reason why I am watching at all. I feel like I "can't miss" his title matches at the big events because "what if this is the night he gets beat". It is honestly a pretty magical time in terms of every title match he has feeling "huge", via the magic feeling of "what if?"

Though it has taken a hit due to Rollins' world title.... even watching Summerslam yesterday I just did my best to ignore that title and ignore that it was a title match between Rollins/Balor....

not even a cape or gail kim can save bray

The Venn diagram for people who hate Bray Wyatt and people who drool on themselves is a circle.

Mr. Nerfect
08-07-2023, 05:35 PM
Watched the main event because I didn’t want it ruined for me in case Jey won the belt. Eh. It’s technically a “good” story and all that, but it feels a little dragged on for me. And I’m not really interested in anyone else on the card, besides maybe LA Knight and MAYBE Iyo Sky.

WWE isn’t horrible these days, but it isn’t very interesting.

Bray is not the answer. Bray is a continuous sequence of jump the shark moments.

Lock Jaw
