Ignore the title, I'm just bored.
But in my random internet searching, I found this: http://www.egmmag.com/article2/0,2053,1487038,00.asp.
EGM took a bunch of young kids (ey up!), and made them play old video games, and this article is their (the kids) reactions.
It's pretty funny, if a bit old.
Reading that made me angry. Check them out trying to be cool with their correct grammer/swearing.
John: I just lined up six of the same color. Why didn't they blow up?
I hate you John Burke. Hate you.

Yeah, I'm glad I got my little cousin into playing Super Mario All-Stars before he turns like that.

John: I'd sooner jump up and down on one foot. By the way, is this supposed to be tennis or Ping-Pong?
1) You look like you could use the exercise.
2) It's called PONG, so I DUNNO.

Tim: They could've just as easily called this game anything—Baseball
Please note exhibit A, which looks much like a baseball diamond.
EGM: This game was so popular in Japan that—
John: They made it into a TV show?
EGM: Well, no. It was so popular that they ran out—
John: Oh, did they make collectible trading cards for it?
EGM: Um, no. It was so popular that there was a shortage of the coins used to play it.
John: But you can get this game on a cell phone. Why would you want to pay for it in an arcade?

the reactions almost seem too stereotypical to be real. some of it was pretty funny though. i personally still love the paddle controller and super breakout. that was so much fun.

No one insults the original Mario...
...urge to kill rising
Can't really blame 'em for having grown up with games like Ocarina of Time and Perfect Dark.
Expecting them to enjoy those games is probably similar to us enjoying silent films.
It still was a little frustrating reading some it it though.
I read that in EGM a few months ago... It seemed like it was either all made up or "tweaked" to hell... It was a little funny, though...

Fucking kids. But I suppose, in 10 years times, kids will play video games from today and be like, "Xbox graphics are lame, can't believe Halo was so popular, all you do is run around" or something stupid like that.

Everything they said was so Cliche....I mean at 12...those games of "Mom and Dad's era" were just a few years before them...
Fact is not only were they stupid about games...they were rude. How many times did EGM get interupted? And as for the silent movie comment...I can still enjoy them, many times they are just as good as today's movies and have a better message.
And the thing I found to be wonderful was even though it was all so "back in the day" I noticed nobody could beat the game they were playing...

To be fair, I can't understand why Halo was so popular now.

Ummm...Let's see...there's the...and the...Actually, the only good thing about it is Co-op, and multiplayer, if you can ever get 16ppl...I'll stick to the PC version.

That's the thing. people seem so blown away by the concept of multiplayer. my friends and I have done it via LAN for years (We'd hijack the computer lab after school...:shifty: ). The novelty's worn on me, it'll wear on other people. The headsets are nifty too, but a novelty deal. I remember playing multiplayer games where I could talk to the other people too...Because I was in the same room as them...
I am thankful that we get more multiplayter games, and online games are cool, but a lot of the buzz around games like Halo are total shit.

These games are lame. they're kicking my ass, but they're so gay.
Yeah. Sounds like sour grapes.
I wonder how many of these kids could beat Zelda without a walkthrough, or navigate the original Super Mario Bros under the same circumstances. I wonder hwo the could handle a game without demo/intro stages that hold your hand.
And yeah. I'm not a silent movie fan (mostly because I don't pay much attention to a TV screen anyways), but I appreciate many oldschool "talkies," radio programs, etc. I'm a HUGE Marx brothers fan, watch Nick-at-Nite and TVLand for my retro fix, etc. I mean, just because a show doesn't have state of the art special effects doesn't mean it doesn't kick ass. Not everything needs to be revamped a la George Lucas to be good. Things don't get bad because they're old unless the only selling point was their state of the art nature (See also Matrix, the...)
