My instinct is that this will be a short-ish run for Edge. He'd said pretty candidly that he didn't know how much longer he'd go with his 50th birthday looming and while wrestlers lie all the time, I could see this being a short-term run through Double or Nothing or maybe Wembley.

But who knows. He has a chance to mix it up with a bunch of different guys in a different environment, could make him want to stick around longer. Sting's probably gone soon too by his own admission, Edge could hang around for those quarterly matches in his stead.

Edge in AEW is kinda cool. Not a big Edge guy myself but with how good Christians current schtick is him and Edge working together will deliver I reckon. He was always gonna get a pop tonight, no point him heeling it up yet, but I could see a two man conchairto to someone in the near future once that initial shininess wears off.

Edge is a talented guy and all, but he had a lot of creative input in his WWE run. A lot of what was uninspiring was his uninspiring. He lost his shine really quickly and then it got a bit sad.

I understand why he wants a change of scenery. But it’s the same old Edge who is going to want to do the same old Edge things. Or if they’re different, they’re probably going to be off-putting. At least he’s getting paid out the ass. Good for him.

Not only did WWE fail to lock down the rights to "Metalingus", they somehow also failed to lock down the trademarks to "Rated R", the Rated R logo, and "Rated R Superstar."

That's one hell of a rights coup by AEW for Edge with the only thing missing being the rights to his WWE ring name.

Anyways, I watched the clip of his debut. Weird at how Christian looks so great and Edge looks like a grizzled old zombie.

Edge was so disappointed WWE didn't want to pay him millions of dollars anymore, even after saying as far back as a year ago he wanted to retire, he thinks it is a good idea at 50 years old with spinal stenosis to go to the company where somebody gets injured every show? I guess at least he must be really enamored with the idea of having hot fueds with Luchasauras and Nick Wayne, totally worth the risk! :shifty:

WWE probably offered him a lot of money to stay, but it’s hard to come up with inspiring stuff for him to do. The change of scenery does actually make sense for him. And Tony is going to pay him like $5 million per year. And he’s got lots of friends there.

I understand the move from his perspective. The chances of him getting hurt are pretty scary though.

I am not even sure what he is going for. He went from being Darlene and having good humorous conversations back to Guru Dave to simply troll Nerfect and sarcastically hype up Tiffany Stratton. I am not even trying to judge, I am sure he is enjoying this course of posting, I just do not know why.

Crazy to think Edge would ever wrestle for any company other than WWE, but fuck, that was an amazing surprise! Both Edge and Christian can still go, despite their age. Fair play to both of them, and well done AEW.

Edge being a part timer would have been fine. Awesome even.

Edge supposedly going full time? Great, more talent held down in favor of an old ex fed guy coming in and getting a title hotshotted onto them for a short term ratings boost. I like Edge a lot, but he should not be a full time focal point of a wrestling show at this point. And I like AEW when they push their style and actually lean into being an alternative; I do not like it when they function as a federation retirement home who gives it's residents participation titles.

Conversely, I'm not sure Edge would've agreed to/wanted to have a full-time run unless he felt there was definitely something in the tank. His comments in the scrum were that he and WWE simply outgrew one another and that they'd run out of things to do, and it sounded to me maybe like he was going back there expecting to be full-time and it just never really panned out.

He sounds excited at the prospect of working with a bunch of guys he's never worked with before. His age doesn't bother me if he really can still go, suppose time will tell there.

If they were adding Edge to an AEW roster in which Dynamite was largely their only show (Rampage's timeslot ensures they'll never do anything super important there) I'd be kinda worried. Get why they'd add the star power but so many guys felt lost in 2 hours. WBD was pressuring AEW to load up the cards and so they couldn't do what they did the first couple of years where they rotated their talent off of Dynamite every other week.

Collision has helped give a lot more guys some shine and they've got plenty of weekly TV now to fit in the stars while not ignoring the midcard. So I'm OK with this tentatively.

Keen to see how the roster management between Dynamite and Collision gets juggled over time. Guys like Danielson, FTR, Bullet Club, Starks etc still seem firmly entrenched as "Collision guys" where they might pop up on Dynamite for segments but they'll actually wrestle on Saturdays. I feel like WBD still want some "staples" on each show even if the rest of the roster rotates around them.
