Can't believe rock came back again. Wonder if Cody will still finish his story

Don't recall last time forums were up for Smackdown!
Still not a fan of Owen's using the stunner as a finish. Looking forward to Roman.

AOP are what they wanted The Ascension to be, actually big and actually bad asses. One was a Kickboxer/MMAer and the other was the Canadian National Champion in Wrestling. They are also still young, 29 and 30.

Wasn't the ascension the road warrior rip offs that teamed with stardust?

Man. There's so much talent at the top that should be champion and only one belt. Cody, Punk and LA Knight.

I'm so glad Punk is back home.

This is my issue. I want Punk to be champion. But I also want Cody to finish the story. I also want LA Knight to be made by winning the title. I also want Roman Reign's title run to keep going as we're never going to get a reign like this again.

Who we think is gonna win tonight? Orton?

I believe that's what is expected. Perhaps Roman/Bloodline screws Knight.

This Royal Rumble has the potential to be super stacked without a clear winner. Punk, Rhodes and Rock all legit potential winners.

I thought solo/Jimmy would interfere causing a fatal 4 way, but they said no dqs in the match

Weird camera shot focused on Knight for 10 seconds whilst he was looking in the ring waiting for AJ to dive.

I have this sneaky suspicion that Orton is gonna win this. Rock screws Reigns out of the title since Reigns won't acknowledge Rock. Punk wins the Rumble. Chooses Rollins and wins the belt at WM. Cody and Orton eventually get tied together (through Elimination Chamber) and Cody vs Orton at WM winning that title with the whole "Legacy" thing. Rock vs. Roman epic main event on night 2 in Philadelphia...the same place that Roman won the Rumble & got booed out of the building in 2015 with Rock raising his hand.

Rock/Roman definitely doesn't need the title.

Yes, but before that Triple H booked them like killers in NXT. Problem was they weren't, and Vince was rightfully (one of the few times with NXT callups) smart to repackage them to try and get something out of them.

Just another chance to point that while they do not acknowledge it on TV, WWE.com STILL lists Roman as the Universal Champion at 1223 days AND the WWE Champion at 642 days.
They can still technically end his WWE Championship reign without ending the 1223 day reign. Have Heyman do some trickery on the inexperienced GM. Then Cody can still win the Championship his father didn't, Punk can still get his main event vs Seth, and Roman can try to continue his reign vs Rock.
Cody and Orton or Knight or AJ would probably open night 2, but the story is not win that title in the main event at Mania, so they can still complete that payoff.
Plus imagine the heat when the Bloodline comes out on that Friday and brags about how they are the smartest and Roman is still Universal Champion.
And have THREE World titles?

And have THREE World titles?
That is how it currently is, 3 World titles, one full time and 2 part time. I don't see a lot of harm in flipping that to 2 full time World Titles, and 1 part time title. They already use Roman on both shows anyways, so each show can have their own World Champion, and Roman can be brought out on either show.

I can see Cody winning the Rumble, Rock costing Roman the belt. It would create a stir and avoids the problem of Rock needing to “earn” a title shot.
Cody doesn’t need to win the belt off Roman. He just wants the WWE Championship. Orton would seem like the obvious choice to work with Cody since they’ve got the history and something of a story. I don’t know why, but I can see LA Knight winning at the Rumble, just to “make” the guy. LA Knight then loses the belt when a heel fucks him over in the Chamber.
Actually imagining someone holding the belt other than Roman seems off, but I can see Rock being conscious that his story with Roman gets more out of Rock being an active agent in messing with Roman. I can see there being slight concepts from Rock’s camp that if he, say, wins the Rumble or they just announce the match for the belt, there is a chance of backlash — even if it is performative.

Yeah, my actual prediction is that Cody wins the Rumble. He just can’t wait to finish his story so he bumps his title shot up to Elimination Chamber. Rock shows up to smack around Jimmy Uso. Cody wins the belt and Rock raises Cody’s arm so you’ve got the juxtaposition between the 2015 Rumble and now.
Rock vs. Roman headlines Night 2. I actually think Rock wins. He’s the world’s biggest babyface. Does Roman pinning him really accomplish what people presume it will?

That's sort-of what they were pared down to, yes.
The whole thing started life as a stable that slowly got picked apart piecemeal (there were like six people for their pre-debut vignette, and only one I remember offhand was Ricardo - who was apparently set to be the mouthpice - being plucked and dropped in on the main roster as Alberto Of The River's personal ring announcer). Eventually, got scaled down to a different duo thanks to the Lattimer's "extra carricular" stuff. Still got the big "squash all teams" push until they got called up to the main roster... and that's where the stupid spikes and red facepaint got added, along with switching them from dominant wins to talking shit and barely winning.
By the time they started paling around with Stardust, even their own joke had long since passed.

Aside from the irony that part of the reason why Roman's... uh... reign... is so long was partially to scrub CM Punk's long run (same reason why Nikki Bella just happened to have a title run like one day longer than AJ Lee while doing little of note while she was champ), the biggest thing here is finishing Cody's story. That is the more immediate thing with the highest stakes and the most to lose, since not obtaining it twice in a row would make him look like the biggest shithead ever, and not in a "justified heel turn" way, but in a "fuck him, he sucks" way. Like, in the way that the Buffalo Bills went to four consecutive Super Bowls and lost all four times, and it didn't matter how they had to win their conference and run the table every playoff. They lost the big one, and that made them just as bad as whatever basement dwelling teams were happening back then. The setup needs the payoff, especially after pissing the bed last year.
Punk doesn't need the title to be compelling. Eli Drake has way more time to start racking up his title wins that he assuredly should get. Roman has supposedly been about to fuck off and do other stuff outside of WWE and/or recollect himself for health reasons for some time now.

Brock had already broke Punk's reign 3 or so years before Roman's current reign started. Those are both reigns with the Universal Championship. Roman's current reign with the WWE Championship is the 6th longest reign with that Championship ever.

The Roman reign has always been a little bit about a few things. One of them has been this looming Bloodline pay-off between Rock and Roman.
