Week 20 already? Don't mind if I do. Let's get ready to give June the boot. Hard to believe that we're close to halfway done with 2025. We're nowhere near done with this, though! Unless, of course, there's some sort of terminal condition I'm suffering from of which I'm unaware. I'd like to believe that one of you would carry on, but I wouldn't want to put that on you. Anyway, that was depressing. Let's look at the leaderboard and see how last week's Anything But Tangerines scores....

One-Winged Angel (Final Fantasy 7) - 8.71
Aquatic Ambience (Donkey Kong Country) - 8.66
At Doom's Gate (Doom) - 8.375
Guile Stage Theme (Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo) - 8.25
Go Straight (Streets of Rage 2) - 8
Bloody Tears (Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest) - 7.85
Anything But Tangerines (Earthworm Jim 2) - 7.75
Green Hill Zone (Sonic the Hedgehog) - 7.72
Rainbow Road (Mario Kart 64) - 7.71
Fight Against Smithy (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars) - 7.2
Halo (Halo: Combat Evolved) - 7.125
Spark Mandrill Stage (Mega Man X) - 7
Ozar Midrashim (Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver) - 6.6
Breeze - In Monochrome Night (Silent Hill 3) - 6.25
Big Apple, 3AM (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle: Turtles in Time) - 6.16
Still Alive (Mirror's Edge) - 5.5
The Instinct (Killer Instinct) - 5.42
Heaven (The Impossible Game) - 4.16
The Jack Attack (You Don't Know Jack: Television) - 3.57

Another top ten contender arrives as Earthworm Jim 2's contribution scores a healthy 7.75. Groovy seems like an appropriate word to use in this situation.

Moving on to our 20th entrant, we stick with the side-scrolling action genre, but back in the days of 8-bit Nintendo Hard goodness. I had a track in mind from this game, but I changed my mind at the last minute because it would've been three weeks straight of opening level music. So how about some level 2 music instead? Yeah, that's...that's different. Anyway, Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden for the NES is the source for this week and our track is the second half of Act 2!

So, what do you think? Does this go as hard as the game does with its difficulty? I trust you'll make the right call. Until next week!

Its fun, opening level is also fun and more iconic... hard to listen to this song without imagining the death sound every 15 seconds

Fav track for the ninja gaiden series is the opening of the 2nd game

Love the NES trilogy. So very hyped for the new 2D Gaiden later this year.

Track is a 7. Better versions and not what I would call peak NG OST

Toss up between a 6 and 7 but went with a 7 since 6 feels a bit too low.

There are better songs from the game and classic NES trilogy in general but this one is still good even if its more on the average to above average side.

Only than harder than this game is me when Captain America lifted Mjölnir in Avengers: Endgame.

dude, there's a new Shinobi coming out too. Stoked for it. I had a Sega Master System and Shinobi was one of my favs. Arcade too.

Here's a 40 min gameplay (no commentary) of it.
