Calgary's blatant and fatal falw rung again, they can't finish, you can't win if you can't finish, it wouldn't surpise me of they missed more shots then they hit tonight. They came on strong too late, this is game 7 jesus, a team that only gets 7 shots in 2 periods doesn't deserve to win. I like both of these teams. Congrats to the Lightning and here's to new Blood in NHL!!!! Besides Donovan didn't play and he was a big reason I liked Calgary.

probably the most excited i've about a stanley cuy final in some time. calgary got robbed in game six with that non call goal but i suppose it's good to have a team like tampa win it.

I feel bad for Calgary, they were robbed in Game 6, goal should have counted, refs didn't do their jobs. Then tonight they get a lousy call in the last minute of the game.
Still, all credit goes to Tampa they played a great game, a great series, and I think in the end the fact that they won the Conference in the regular season gave them a real easy raod to the finals. I think in the end that was the difference, Calgary had to go through the top three teams in the West, Tampa only had to go through one decent team to get to the finals.
Nice to see Andreychuck finally get a Cup, even though he should have had one here in 93 (he wasn't quick with the whistle back then, I guess he's learned from his mistakes), but better late than never.
Both teams play exciting hockey, so its nice to see two fun teams in the finals, hopefully that changes how management builds teams in the future and the days of the Devils brand of hockey are behind us.
Calgary has a bright futre, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them back in the finals in the next year or two.
No more hockey...that suck, well at least we got the World Cup in a couple fo months: GO CANADA GO!!!

I'm happy for Tampa. Only thing that pissed me off was Bettman talking out of his ass and saying that Tampa fans deserved the cup for supporting the team. Thats total bullshit

IMO this was the perfect Stanley Cup finals. I'm not gonna lie, I didn't really care about hockey this year, even the playoffs, and usually I am a pretty big fan. But while the NHL marketing people look at this as a nightmare, I think its the perfect thing for hockey and the best possible matchup.
These finals were great because all of the old washed up guys on the powerhouse teams who already have won the Stanley Cup were out of it. There was no Joe Sakic, no Dominic Hasek, no old shit we have already seen before. There are two young teams playing fast paced hockey with some of the most exciting players in the sport (St. Louis, Lecavaillier, Igilna, Khabulin) on the ice who also happen to be hungary for their first cup, excited fans, hell even the colors looked good.
I liked both teams a lot coming into this final, but in the end I am kind of glad that Tampa Bay came out the victors, frankly because I think that they are the better team. I have been a big St. Louis and Lecavailier fan for the past few years, and now this year they were finally the best, and I am glad that they were awarded it. Both of these teams are young and will be back again, and I think it is going to be great for hockey if the Colorado, Detroit, Dallas, St Louis, New Jersey, Philly, Toronto etc. is pushed aside by new young exciting teams like Columbus, San Jose, Minnesota, Atlanta, Nashville, etc.

Hate to burst your bubble but the Devils style of hockey is what Calgary plays - the trap. Whenever Calgary gets into the lead in the playoffs they shut down the neutral zone. The difference is the age in the players. Calgary's youth means that they just jump into the offence mode a lot faster than a New Jersey team would. So in essence, it was the New Jersey style of play that got Calgary far...so they said on TV :shifty:

I dont think they play the same style. Jersey tends to just dump the puck, and then wait for a turnover in the nuetral zone. Calgary on the other hand will dump and then actually chase. Plus, like you said yourself they're younger so they are more exciting to watch. They dont play wide open like Tampa does (which is entertaining as well, which is why its kinda good they won), but they are nowhere near as boring as say Minnesota or Jersey is.

I think that Calgary is the next Carolina or Anahiem. One lucky playoff run and it's over. I can't see them making the playoffs as the west is way too competitive. This was their year and they blew it

Thats an ignorant thing to say, because #1 a club from Tampa Bay beat a club from Calgary, and #2 there was maybe 5 American players on both teams, and I'm sure none of the European/Canadian players have any affiliation with Tampa Bay or the United States at all, besides playing hockey there.
I think that Calgary is the next Carolina or Anahiem. One lucky playoff run and it's over. I can't see them making the playoffs as the west is way too competitive. This was their year and they blew it
I don't agree at all. Anaheim made the finals purely because of Juan-Sebastian Giguere, they had some good players, but their team changed and Giggy cannot play like that forever. Calgary is young, Jerome Igilna is amazing, Jordan Leopold etc are all coming up and are going to be really good. Leopold will lead the next generation of American defenseman, Brian Leetch, Chris Chelios etc. Calgary shouldn't lost anything too drastic, and they didn't overplay as much as Anahiem did. They will be around for a few years.

I'm gonna say Anaheim rode Giggy longer then calgary rode Kipur, but from what I've read Iggy needs a new contract next year and is a restricted FA this year, of course calgary wont be stupid enough to let him go, Conroy will probably leave cause he's a FA and will get better money else where which is too bad. Calgary has a pretty good farm team though.
