Hart Trophy
The Hart Memorial Trophy is an annual award given to the player judged to be the most valuable to his team. The winner is selected in a poll of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association in all NHL cities at the end of the regular season.

no doubt in my mind Iginla is going to take this Trophy. He's easily the best player in the NHL today so my vote goes to him.

I'm going to say Raycroft takes this one although I wouldn't be shocked to see Ryder take it just because the people who vote on this usually like to give it to a forward rather then a goalie.

Luongo is my pick, if Kiprusoff wassn't injured for 6 weeks of the season it might be different, but he was and Luongo was the best goalie this year even playing on a shitty team.

Yeah bad picks for Vezina, Hart and Jack Adams.

Tortorella really just continued his work from last year whereas Sutter really left a clear mark on the Flames and was pretty much responsible for making them into the team that they are. Although maybe I am overrating him and looking too far into his GM position.

Iginla > St Louis, simple as that

Luongo really should've gotten the Vezna, I mean Brodeur was playing behind the Norris winner. I mean seriously

St. Louis blew him out.

St. Louis was first on 97 of 105 ballots and amassed 1,016 points, while runner-up Jarome Iginla of the Calgary Flames was second with two firsts and 253 points.

St. Louis won the Ross with 38 goals and 56 assists for 94 total points. He was the first player to win the scoring title, earn a Stanley Cup ring and get the Hart in the same year since Wayne Gretzky in 1987. He's only the eighth player in NHL history to complete the triple.

I don't really see the argument with him getting it. He led in total points and +/-. Am I missing something? :o

Hart is supposed to go to a teams most valuable player, its just my opinion that Iginla is more valuable to the flames than St louis is to the lightning. But I suppose that Iginla lost some votes because Kipper was so huge for them.

Although I felt that Kipper was only a bit more valuable than Khavibulin.

St. Louis deserved the Hart. He carried that Tampa offence and was a big reason for their 1st place finish in the East.

I'm dissapointed that Sutter didn't win the Jack Adams. He totally turned the Flames around from 7 straight seasons of missing the playoffs to a playoff contender

st louis had a great supporting cast i mean taking jerome off the calgary roster would impact them way more then taking st. louis off the tampa roster since they have other players capable of stepping it up so this make ignila more valuable imo. also jerome can contribute more in other areas besides goal scoring.

also keep in mind the winners are decided before the playoffs start, with all due respect to sutter, the flames only finished 6th in the confrence. i probably would've picked wilson over sutter based on regular season. if it included post season, the sutter would probably win hands down.

Fair enough.

I just started getting into hockey so I'm not all that good with these things but what I saw was that St. Louis led in points, +/-, and Assists (or he was close to the top, he was ahead of jerome in all areas though).

So I dunno. :o

i think the problem is how you interpret mvp. i mean i think it's the person that's most valuable to the team, some people think it's just the best player over all. i just figure that if you take that player off the team, how would they do, and that to me gives and indication of who is more valuable.
