When Kenzo Sezuki appeared for his first time on Smackdown! tonight, the crowd promptly began chanting frantically "USA! USA! USA!"
Kenzo hadn't done anything yet. The fans were chanting against him because of his nationality.
I'm into the "post-9-11 put stickers on your car" patriotism bullshit as much as the next person, but when a chant like that breaks out, its not patriotic. Its Racist. We chant against the French, the Japanese, and in the past, Mexicans, not based on their performance or angle, but because of nationality. This has pissed me off fluently.
Heaven forbid someone be better at something than someone in America!!!!
Small American Nerd with a Flag T-Shirt(Whiny voice): "But I thought we were number one!!!!!!!"
Get over it. Rasicms been disguised as Patriotism too much.I am in no way dogging on America, but on Americans for letting everything go to their heads.
Patriotism is loving your country. Not hating everyone elses. La Resistance is different. They WANT people to hate them. Even though Kenzo was obviously being portrayed as the heel, he didn't come out with a big flag, or sing hisa National anthem. He just came down as a japanese man.
I need to clear my head and watch some TNA, catch another great International performance that everyone can appreciate. The International Team idea is maaaad awesome.
Sorry if I rambled, but it IS a Soap Box....

It's showbiz, and if people chantng "USA" toward someone who isn't American can draw heat, then let's say the world heavy weight champ is really from GA.

I hate to say this but I think Scotty and Grandmaster sexy are forever stuck with the two cool gimmick. I dont see anyway to change them with out taking drastic measures. Remeber when they tried to change Rikishi. He had new music and everything turned heel. Didnt last to long he got stale and went back to dancing.

Actually, in a roundabout it is his damn fault. He shouldn't have been such a bitch about jobbing.

I think the reason why that started was just because they didn't repackage Suzuki completely. He's basically "Hirohito" without all the revenge talk and other things...

WWE has marketed him as a man out for "Revenge"...WWE WANTS people to boo him. His angle (the way they have promoted his arrival) is that he is bitter towards Americans...
Get use to it...
And shame on you for buying into the putting 9-11 Bumperstickers on your car...No one gave a flying crap about America until 9-11...just like no one gave a flying crap about Regean till he died...just like no one gave a flying crap about anything until it is threatened...America is a country of ban wagon hoppers and sell outs...and I stick to that.
Sounds like I took two sides? Well I didn't. I think America is a bunch of pussy sell outs, and I think people who bitch about racism are a bunch of cry babies.

I think racism works several ways, and I don't cosider the WWE to be racist. The angriest I've become with the WWE was the whole The Dudley Boyz/La Resistance thing.
Bubba: We hate them because they're French!
Jim Ross: It was good to see the French President do something nice (shaking hands with Bush) to make up for not helping in the war.
They're two quotes that really irritated me. I think Kenzo was probably booed due to the fans knowing who he is (sorta). Plus he didn't look like a happy chappy, so thats immediately a negative reaction.

Yeah. WWE really showed their asses with the treatment of La Resistance. Hating them because they're French and disagree with the U.S.? France really never did anything awful to the U.S. That's just pedantic (and yes, I know I'm talking about a sport of sorts where guys taunt other guys about defecation and other things like that)....shouldn't be on the show.
If they want to do something like that, just make up an Osama Bin Laden-style heel....at least then that'll make more sense than to pick on the French.
Bad enough we're being polarized in real life... don't do it in fantasy, either.

I think the whole "anti-american" thing is so bloody old now.
The WWE just uses it as a way to get heels over now. I mean even Mordecai in his promo the other week reffered to the USA as a "cesspool". Whats worse, this desperate attempt to get people over hardly ever works properly.

Michales shouldn't of been a bitch about jobbing, wtf, Bret was the one who didn't want to job, he should have done the honourable thing and dropped the title.
