I heard that their lead singer or one of the main cornerstones of the band died and they have since disbanded. Any truth to this? Can any one help me out on this?

I know their lead singer died a while ago. I don't believe they're using the name Drowning Pool anymore.
Lead singer died quite a while ago. Not sure if they are still around though.

Dang man, I really enjoyed/enjoying their music. I was looking forward to some new stuff from them but guess that won't ever come to pass.
Thanks for the info though.

Drowning Pool's lead singer, Dave Williams died on tour during Ozzfest 2002. The band later did a song for "Daredevil", fronted by Rob Zombie, but only as a one-time deal. The band has decided to suspend themselves for a bit, because they want to be as over Dave as they can before choosing a new singer.

It's a shame they were already obliged to do a song for Daredevil, because the one they ended up doing was freakin' weak.

I have to ask though, were they actually popular? I mean, I know a few people who liked them, but most people seem to be a bit :meh: about them. (Yes I know they performed at mania, at least I remember it as mania, but I also remember WWE trying to push Neurotica and Fred Bizkit down our throats.)

They had a better run than a lot of the bands the WWE's tried to push of late. I think their pop magic is wearing off, since they can't seem to push a band like they used to. As for DP, their popularity was pretty high, despite the crappiness of the song they were pushed with. Actually, once I got past "Bodies," I kinda liked the band. Though I'm less likely to go for one of these pop bands the TV's pushing down our throats...I'm funny that way. I don't like being told what I like
