View Full Version : The Biggest Let Down

My question is what is the biggest let down for you in wrestling history. What I mean by this is when something happens which initially sounded good to you but then it turned out to be a real dissappointment. Some examples would be a wrestler signing with a company (Raven, Jerry Lynn, Storm etc), a match or a storyline (alliance angle, nWo in the WWE).

For me it would be when Raven signed for the WWE. I was really excited about it and thought that he would go to be one of the biggest stars in the company. However after a great debut everything just went from bad to worse for him.

Post your opinions on the topic.

-Invasion
-John Cena face turn
-Hogan vs Rock II (the match)
-Mr. America (I liked it at first. Very funny, but they just dropped it in a second)
-Goldberg
-Kane's unmasking (The way he unmasked in front of RVD was great, but the aftermath was crap)
-Dropping the Booker T and Goldust segments :nono:
-Dropping Goldust's touret syndrome angle (funny as hell. Admit it)
-Kurt Angle as GM
-Paul Heyman's Smackdown
-Brock Lesnar's premature ejaculation for a face turn
-Undertaker: Texas Ranger

The InVasion is the single biggest let-down in the history of wrestling. Period.

It was every fan's dream for the better part of a decade, and when we finally got it, the "other" company was absolutely destroyed beyond all credibility. Careers are still recovering from that debacle.

obviously. Let's just get over it now.

The biggest let down was when they advertise the HHH-THE ROCK- AUSTIN feud for survivor series, then they took out austin and put BIG SHOW.

I thought that was kinda cool, actually. Everybody was speculating SO much and it turned out to be SO obvious. I remember thinking it would be the Ultimate Warrior for some reason.

See I never put too much stock in the invasion angle from the beginning, as the only actual big names they had from WCW to work with were Booker T and DDP. So I wasn't really let down that much.

The only thing I've ever been really truly disappointed with from WWE was the nWo angle collapsing in on itself. You can't even blame WWE for it, between Hall getting himself fired, Nash not being able to stay uninjured, and Hogan being unable to get over as a heel, it was never really able to get off the ground. Still, I was extremely disappointed with how it turned out.

The Invasion
ECW being brought into the invasion, only to be teaming up with WcW... and having Steph as owner.
Jerry Lynn in WWE
Tazz in WWE
Storm in ECW..

for me it was the misuse of ecw wrestlers, but mostly the misuse of raven he could have created another flock or had a feud with ddp over something more like the european title cause the hardcore title sucked after the 24 hour rule there were many wrestlers in the wwe he feuded with before which could have been great

The constant misuse of the cruiserweight division.
Triple H winning on every PPV.
Triple H winning the title atleast twice a year.
A-Train getting TV time.
The invasion angle.
Takers 'power' storyline during the build up between his and kanes match at wrestlemania earlier this year,. that so fake i laughed when the fans cheered for it.If Takers so powerful, why doesn't he have a lightning bolt strike someone out of nowhere to win every match?
Benoit being the world heavyweight champ but not being put on the Raw preview.
Benoit being world heavyweight champ but being booked on the midcards.
Benoit being the world heavyweight champ and being made out to look like the underdog.
Benoit being the world heavyweight champ and is about to be Jericho'd by jobbing his title to Triple H at SummerSlam.
John Cena not loosing his US title to Rene Dupree in the lumberjack match.
John Cena becoming more and more irritating on each show.
The WWE relying on The Rock to make Raw a good show last night on his own, which is obviously the reaosn why the rest of the show sucked(i read the Raw thread)

I think that's it for now, ill come up with some more later i'm sure.
