Just bought it today besides the sub par rating on gamespot. I love the Driver series and a few technical glitches aren't gonna ruin the game for me. So far, most of the reader reviews have given the game 7's, 8's, and 9's so the so called "experts" can kiss my ass. :yes:

Meh I just recently played Driver for the first time on my PS1. Like it is fun but, GTA3 blows it out of the water. So maybe if I had played Driver before GTA3 I'd probabyl care for it more.

But meh. Nothing special.

Ok, I just played it finally. It's pretty good. You can actually swim unlike in GTA. The only cons are that there is no blood and and the shooting interface is limited to one joystick, making it sort of hard to aim at enemies. The car models, amount of cars, driving controls and the look and size of the levels are better than GTA imo. The damage the cars take is amazing; it looks real for once. Plus the voice acting of Michael Madsen, Ving Rhames, Mickey Rourke, and Iggy Pop make the game that much better :y:.

It's utter shit. The game stops every time inbetween missions. WHY?. Why can you not see past the car in the behind view? Why isn't there more views?

It has some cool touches like killing people in car collisions, shooting out tyres and the explosions but it has Max Payne syndrome, style over substance which I guess is what people want these days :(

What do you mean? Are you talking about when you complete a mission and the menu comes up that says "save" etc and "play next mission", or do you mean your game freezes between missions, because I've played mine for a good while now and haven't experienced any glitches yet.

I read in one review that the enemies aren't triggered by your actions, but rather by invisible tripwires.
As in, if you know where the tripwire is, the enemies will stand there, obliviously while you shoot them in the head.
You shoot one in the head, they still stand there, because you haven't touched the tripwire.

Yeah, the 2nd mission, the guys won't come out until you go past a certain point. You can run around that certain point and pop the 2 guys off :|

If you like Driver 2, this is basically a huge revamped version of it with larger levels, 3D buildings, more and better vehicles, plus being able to shoot people outside the car.

but how in the hell can you compare Driver (PS1) to GTA III (PS2). thats really not a fair comparison AT ALL.

I rented Driv3r yesterday and I was very dissapointed with it. I expected it to be much better. The only thing that really impressed me was the graphics in the game. They were much better then GTA's graphics.

There's another camera angle. If you press select/back ( I forget what it is on xbox) you get an "in car" view or a first person point of view.
