View Full Version : How face Big Show could work..

Everybody talks alot how Big Show as a comedic face would kick ass. The way Smackdown is being run right now, there could never be a better time.
IF Paul Heyman puts together his ECW stable, then Big Show could successfully make a turn. Without a heel stable, face Show would be seen as 'unstoppable'. Think about it - Heels always cheat to win, they break the rules. Faces are the good guys that follow the rules, and always legitimately win until the heel cheats or something. Big Show is 7'0 and 500 lbs so theres really no possible way a face Big Show would lose a match legit. NOW we have like 3-4 heel guys that work together and can take him down. I'd say the main eventer would be RVD, and Heyman would be the proverbial "Ric Flair" of the group, always making a distraction so RVD can grab a chair and Vam Daminator the Big Show or something.
Also, the fans are really behind Big Show. They really want to cheer him again, and for good reason. Show has alot of charisma, and is generally a pretty funny guy. Remember when he got sprayed with shit? It was gold how he sold that.
With all the heels being made on Smackdown, it's time they made another face. Also, we'd see Show vs. Angle eventually when Kurt hits the ring again. Now that'd be a sweet match. Plus RVD can make a friggin heel turn. This consolidates at LEAST 3 more main eventers and really makes Smackdown solid again.

The thing is that if Show was a face we'd probably get a never ending fued with him and Mordecai.
Just like with Big Show and Undertaker, whenever neither of them has someone to face they just get thrown into a fued with each other

That's all true, but the problem is that once he turns into a face and thus becomes a comedy guy, his credibility gets flushed down the toilet again. He's never been credible as a face because the writers always turn him into a joke. It could work if the writers were smart and had him as a good natured giant who got angry sometimes and then wrecked havoc (say, during a match), but I don't trust them to be that smart.

Big guys don't necessarily have to be monsters. Big guys don't have to be monsters to get over. Big Show was popping the crowd big time when he was immitating people. It was funny, it was entertaining and he was getting over nicely. Thats all gimmicks really need to do - Get people over.
Fuck credability. I mean Eugene really has no credability, but hes popping the crowd more than anyone on the regular RAW roster at the moment.
Hell, if you want to talk credability, Big Show has had none for his entire heel stint of the last 3 years. A monster? Oh no, quiver in fear as this 7ft tall guy throws cruiserweights around like he has been doing for his entire career. His title reign at the end of 2002 was a complete bomb, Rey Mysterio who he repeatedly beat, and is lower on the card than him is more over.

Its hard to have sympathy for a guy who is 7 feet and 500 lbs, so that isn't going to make him a great face. Yeah he can be funny, but that wont draw PPV draws.
Makes sense for Show to come back as a henchman for Heyman or whatever.

Sympathy? When was the last time somebody gave sympathy to Benoit, or the Rock, or Stone Cold, etc?
Personally, I think if done right, it could be a really interesting change of pace. The crowd did seem to react well to Big Show when he was a face, and he could definitely be credible climbing into the ring and plowing through a whole stable. It'd be better than some aging, half drunken bald man running in with BAHGAWDSTUNNAONRVDSTUNNAONHEYMANTWOFINGERSALUTEBBQSAUCESTUNNERSTUNNERSTTUNNERONEVERYBODEH. It'd be better for the credibility of the stable involved, at least.
Problem is that it would have to be handled well...and the WWE tends to screw up that sorta thing...but I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. :shifty: Savvy?

Corkscrewed, I get where you're coming from but... Big Show has had little to no credibility for like 3 years. He was never over as a WWE champ, never over as a U.S. champ, got shit blown in his face (literally) in a feud with Eddie Guerrero. He has no credibility to work with as it is, we could at least make him be over with the fans.
Yeah, we all see he has no credibility. But he can't get any credibility anyway with Eddie Guerrero as a champion. No offense to Eddie, but there is no way at all some 5'11'' 230 lbs guy could EVER take a 7'0 500 lbs giant. But yet he manages to do it, and it makes Show look like a joke every single time it happens. If Show is a face, he avoids a feud with Eddie by facing the ECW stable. Show losing to a stable of 4 guys lets him keep all of his credibility. Plus Bubba is fat, so he can make fun of him.
It's just a bit of speculation, really. Everybody wanted to see an ECW stable, and everybody wanted to see a comedic Big Show face.
