*EDIT*
I'm gonna try and revisit this thread once a week or so, as the Matt Hardy storyline commences, to see what happens with it.
*[/EDIT].

I've been a fan of Matt Hardy for a while now.

When the Hardyz were doing their thing I thought they were great. Some classic matches, and some that will go down in history as ground-breaking.
However, when they split, I kind of had Matt's career-expectancy at about 9 months before he was released.

BUT.....Matt Hardy began to shine.
The Mattitude gimmick was brilliant. MF'rs? Superb :y:

His mic work is great, his in-ring skills are solid, and he has everything he needs to be around for a long time.
His move to Smackdown did well in establishing him as a singles competitor, but the move back to RAW pretty much turned him into a jobber again.

And then the Kane/Lita storyline comes along.
From out of nowhere, Matt has a potential feud with a title-contender, and at the PPV, they escort him from the building. WTF?

Then RAW this week shows Matt doing the right thing by his pregnant girl, getting huge pops, and totally over as a face, and then the killer blow - the baby's not his. Matt walks away.
So this is the point we are at now.

Where do we go from here? What's gonna happen with Matt Hardy?

This is the part where I'm looking for discussion.

I would love to see Matt come back full of rage, totally pissed, and kicking ass. Angry, Hurt, a little paranoid, and after revenge.
No forgiveness for Lita, a HUGE beatdown on Kane, and a series of utterly ruthless squashes on other wrestlers.
When I say this, I don's mean going for a technical win - I mean that he is out there to destroy anyone that gets in his way. It doesn't matter if it's chairshots and DQ's, hitting people with cars, jumping people from behind, whatever.
Just Matt Hardy on a mission.

All this could be tied into a storyline of Matt wanting Kane, Bischoff trying to get him beat down, and putting other wrestlers in the way, Kane getting pestered all the time by Hardy, etc.

End Product:
Matt Hardy, a dedicated, passionate wrestler, with credibility, skills, attitude, ruthless agression, and a babyface with the fans behind him, desperate to see what he does next.

Can I have your thoughts on this?
I'm interested to see what others think could happen with the whole Matt/Kane/Lita storyline, and particulary what could happen with Matt from Monday on RAW......

well, I think the move will backfire on Matt Hardy. Why do I say so? Well, you think of a person who's creating havoc backstage, assaulting people around, just because the baby in his girlfriend's tummy isnt his? Even if the fans accept this analogy, can they accept Matt as a babyface while he's kicking innocent people's ass?

In my opinion, he should go only AFTER kane, but be willing to accept that even though the baby isnt his, he will take care of it. IMO, this will really make matt go way over with the fans.

I get where you're coming from, but there's a tremendous opportunity here to give Matt Hardy a push, and for the WWE to make money, and get some great storylines and matches out of this.
If Matt Hardy goes on a rampage, Bischoff would be feeding him heels to beat him up, but Hardy always comes out on top, either with pins, DQ's, whatever.
The anger, hurt, rejection, humiliation and emotional pain fuels him, and this in essence is all geared towards getting through any obstacles to get to Kane.

They could even try to get Hardy to attempt to kill him, by trying to run him over, set him on fire, drop heavy objects on him, etc.

The potential for this line is huge.
The fans would buy into him as a face, not a hell, because he would be going up against the administration, Kane (heel) and other heels.

Sooner or later Lita is gonna have to start showing signs of pregnancy, and unless she's actually pregnant, this could prove a problem.

Also, what happnes in 9 months when the baby drops? They gonna fake it again ala Mae Young? (Oh please dear god, not a hand).

My bet is that Kane will inadvertantly knock Lita off of the apron or soemthing lame like that, and she'll loose the baby...then we find out it was Matts afterall.

Damn, thats a crap idea.......probably be on tv next month.

Now THIS, I like. Forget making Matt the troubled face. I want to see him totally rip ass because of this betrayal. This would definitely bring him back to his unexpected greatness.

Still, I don't think he should have left SmackDown!

For Matt, this is a no win situation.

In all likelyhood he will end up in a match with Kane, probably at the Vengeance PPV. Now, he might even get a cheesy win, but more likely is that they try to build Kane back up (after his tap out loss to Benoit) in order to set him up for HBK at Summerslam, or whenever that program continues/ends.

What I can see is that Kane will face Hardy and hurt him pretty badly. I know Hardy has been putting off some surgery, and this would probably be a good time to take him off TV for a little while.

As for the future, he's already been screwed. first, I know the WWE has no intention of giving him a serious push because of his book. Will they ever forgive and forget? Maybe, but I doubt it.

But just looking at the angle, I dont see how Matt can come out looking strong. First, his girl slept with Kane so Kane wouldn't beat him up. That makes Matt look like the biggest pussy this side of Disco Inferno. On top of that, Matt got played by buying Lita a ring, only to get humiliated on national TV (again not a babyface move). If the baby ends up being Kane's and he stays with Lita, he also looks like a punk because he's accepting the cheating and raising another dude's kid. And even if the baby is him, bottom line is Lita still slept with Kane to protect him. This idea that people will get behind Matt for being a stand up guy is false, there's no past evidence of fans getting behind guys who get played. Thats why Hunter would never let Angle steal Steph from him, because he knew it would make him look like a punk.

If he goes on a killing spree in the back, meh that will only go so far because we all know they wont push him to the top. So I see this angle as a way to actually bury Matt, while still keeping Kane in a key TV angle so he can stay hot for his movie (whenever that gets made).

I hope he goes back to Smackdown. :(

It will be interesting to see how they finish this storyline.

I read the hardys book a few weeks ago, and I didn't think there was anything particularly anti-WWE in it. I thought it was a bit messed up here and there, but that was more the writing style than anything else, but I didn't know Vince was pissed about it.
More details on that one, if you don't mind.......:y:

As for Matt Hardy looking strong coming out of this storyline, it all depends how he reacts (as a character).
He can either be crushed, enraged or hide.
If he has one match against Kane and then that's it, then that makes no sense. Proposing to the girl you love, and expecting your first child are some of the biggest things that can ever happen to a person, and to have all that taken away from you on national TV would do some serious psychological damage to anyone.
Which brings me back to the crushed, enraged or hide.

ENRAGED:
Now if Matt Hardy was enraged, out for vengeance, and wanting to kick Kane's ass, he would be trying to get to him at every opportunity, and if he was enraged enough, he would kick the ass of anyone trying to stop him.
He would want nothing to do with Lita, and if Bischoff was trying to protect Kane by setting other wrestlers on him to protect Kane, wouldn't Matt Hardy go for them in order to get to Kane.
This is the kind of storyline that the fans would love, and they would be behind Hardy right through it.

CRUSHED:
Matt jobbs, does nothing except whine and cry. Career over.
There would be no comeback for him from this. He's jobbed and jobbed since he came back to RAW, moving him to Smackdown would do nothing for him, and the crowd would rightfully assume that his character has become a total pussy. No audience response. Ever.

HIDE:
Matt Hardy disappears from TV, to 'emotionally recover'. When he comes back people will still remember what happened, and think he's a big wuss.

I still say enraged is the way to go with Matt Hardy, and they can still build Kane's credibility while this is going on. He can repeatedly beat down Hardy whenever the 2 meet, but Hardy will gain because he won't quit.

CyNick - what's this about Matt Hardy needing surgery?

This is the WWE. The pregnancy will probably last until the PPV, where Lita gives birth (The excuse will be something about Kane having supernatural sperm) and then the week after the baby is over 20 years old and was up until recently in OVW.

Either that, or nothing will happen. Remember Tests job immunity thing he got at Survivor Series 2001? Yeah, all he did for 2 weeks was big boot referees and then started main eventing Heat. Technically, Test had a year of doing anything he wanted in the WWE, but he just beat up referees every week.

Matt should bury Kane in a 1 on 1 Scramble Barbed Wire Exploding Steel Cage Chamber Inferno In A Cell Judy Bagwell On A Pole Match.

Then move back to Smackdown to get a sustained push as US champeen.

Taken from RAW: Monday 5th July

Kane v Batista match, interfered with by Matt Hardy

But an enraged Matt Hardy seemed to snap, erasing the match and slamming Kane’s head against the steel ring steps repeatedly.
As a result, Matt Hardy will face Kane at Vengeance in a “No Disqualification” Match.

Matt Hardy starts to go mental on Kane.
Matt Hardy in a no DQ match against Kane at Vengeance?

Hopefully Matt will be given the win, otherwise he's dead and buried and Mattitude will be gone forever..:nono: :nono: :'( :'( :wavesad: :wavesad:

Open to discussion.
