View Full Version : 10 very quick ways to make Smackdown "watchable"

1) Turn Cena heel.
Reason- Smackdown is in dire need of a hot act, and Cena was red hot when he was a heel. Re-introduce the heel aspects of his character, and basically follow the SCSA blueprint of 96/97.
2) Bring X-pac back, and have him in the Cruiserweight division.
Reason- Gives credibility back to the division. X-pac was a upper mid carder at his peak, and fans generaly liked him. Introduce him as a face, and have him compete for the Cruiserweight title. Also adds the possibility of him forming a stable (i.e the next DX?) Just a thought.
3) Bring in Sting.
Reason- A recognized star in a roster that is in dire need of formidable wrestlers. He is proven to draw, and easily be inserted in the World Title picture. Can also be used to get over future talent.
4) G-TV
Reason- Can be used to advance or create storylines.
5) Shane as GM.
Reason- Fans like him, and he could be no worst than Angle. This will bring interest, and he can shake things up, in a good way. Definately a better pick than Steph. Also, can work as a heel GM or a face GM.
6) Introduce new gimmicks.
Reason- See what sticks to the wall and go with it. So far, Zenzo Suzuki sucks, despite his tremendous build-up. Conduct weeks worth of vignettes to get fans interested in seeing something new.
7) Create stables.
Reason- What would Raw be like without Evolution?...Remember, the 96/97 years which developed into Attitude, there were several stables around. These stables had wrestlers with distinguishable personas' and being in a stable feud helped to create different dynamic elements. Think about it---> The Nation with the Rock, DX with HHH, Evolution with Randy Orton. There are several other examples, but these are the greatest success results from stable formation.
8) If its possible, have Smackdown LIVE.
Reason- Being live makes the viewer have that anything can happen feel. Nitro was a success because it was LIVE, and Raw followed on that trend. By being live, your creating a different atmosphere to which you are expecting more from the wrestlers. Typically, expecting more yields greater results. Also, having an overrun period wouldn't be to bad either because it adds to the 'anything can happen' aura.
9) Change the settings.
Reason- I could tolerate the blue and black...but silver and blue is just ridiculousy ugly. Also, changing the theme song wouldn't hurt either. I recommend Linkin Park's "Nobody's listeining". I think it would create a good opening feel to the show.
10) Have JBL feud at the mid-card level, THEN move up.
Reason- I love the JBL gimmick. I think its unique, and JBL plays the character perfectly. In all seriousness, I don't think his persona is too much of a stretch from his own personal ideology. Remember, after the 9/11 attacks he suggested that Afghanistan turned into a parking lot. Thats a radical thing to say. Anyways, the JBL gimmick wasn't initially well recieved was because JBL went from low mid-card to main event in a weeks time. That is unheard of, and fans didn't get the feeling that JBL was actually a threat to the title. Have JBL feud with a mid carder, then have him feud for the title. At least then he will seemingly be viewed as a threat.

Dude,

It might be just me, but Smackdown is coming off as PG or maybe PG-13 at times. Its probably because of the FCC but every sense of the Attitude that made WWE popular is gone from Smackdown. Smackdown isn't pushing the envelope and you think they would since they are in the Primetime slot.

3) Bring in Sting.
:y:
5) Shane as GM.
Angle is fine
7) Create stables.
Stables always generates one top star like RTC. Plus everyone loves a gang fight
8) If its possible, have Smackdown LIVE.

Dude, I haven't watched Smackdown since.......Anyways, I didn't watch the JBL/Eddie match at the PPV, and I only heard about his win on 'Smackdown Rebound' on Raw.

I don't want to sound rude, but dude there hasn't been a SmackDown! since then.
As for what you've said, I would sort of agree. I big change I'd make is having a lot more of the show dedicated to the cruiserweights.

^^I meant I haven't watched Smackdown in weeks. The "......" indicates me drawing a blank as to trying to remember when I last watched Smackdown.

1) Turn Cena heel.
Reason- Smackdown is in dire need of a hot act, and Cena was red hot when he was a heel. Re-introduce the heel aspects of his character, and basically follow the SCSA blueprint of 96/97.
Good idea, except he's the second most over guy on SD! and the show has enough heels right now, especially with Taker's turn.
You're kidding, right? He's a terrible Cruiserweight, and fans hated him. As a face, he's a pussy. As a heel, he gets the "Get off my TV" heat. He sucks. Really.
3) Bring in Sting.
Reason- A recognized star in a roster that is in dire need of formidable wrestlers. He is proven to draw, and easily be inserted in the World Title picture. Can also be used to get over future talent.
No need, since they'd drop the ball and kill his legacy. WWE needs NEW talent, not more old wrestlers who are past their prime and can't wrestle as well.
4) G-TV
Reason- Can be used to advance or create storylines.
It's never been consistent. It doesn't make sense. It was never hugely over except for the first time they used it.
5) Shane as GM.
Reason- Fans like him, and he could be no worst than Angle. This will bring interest, and he can shake things up, in a good way. Definately a better pick than Steph. Also, can work as a heel GM or a face GM.
Less McMahons on TV = better, because they'd inevitably feud with one another and rob PPV spots.
6) Introduce new gimmicks.
Reason- See what sticks to the wall and go with it. So far, Zenzo Suzuki sucks, despite his tremendous build-up. Conduct weeks worth of vignettes to get fans interested in seeing something new.
Good idea.
Another good idea. I wish they'd have Kenzo head Kyodai as a real Yakuza leader. A Yakuza/FBI mob war could have been a very entertaining midcard feud.
I'd like this too, though supposedly live episodes haven't done much better. Plus, UPN never lets things overrun.
9) Change the settings.
Reason- I could tolerate the blue and black...but silver and blue is just ridiculousy ugly. Also, changing the theme song wouldn't hurt either. I recommend Linkin Park's "Nobody's listeining". I think it would create a good opening feel to the show.
Nah, that doesn't really do much of a difference. I'm cool with SD!'s looks right now anyway.
You're about three months too late with that.

X-pac was VERY OVER as a face. Heck, it was X-pac vs Shane at WM15 that ignited the HHH heel turn. This heel turn is what pushed HHH to the main event level, and I believe it was X-pac who was HHH's first assignment as a heel. CLASSIC LINE on RAW- X-pac says "HHH ass is grass and I'm gonna to smoke it".
Granted, X-pac did suck as a heel, but as a face he had potential. Remember, this is the same guy who was the 1-2-3 Kid.

:nono:<font color=cyan>If you see how BG James looks like today, you would so take that back... Hate to say it but The Road Dogg is past his prime... Now if they could create a new, fresh team like the New Age Outlaws then that'd be cool... Take one decent wrestler who can work a mic and one wrestler with a superstar look, and pair them up. Hell, that's all they did for Jesse and Billy.

For one night only, so Orton can kill the legend of Chyna's Greasy Buttmonkey.

Fuck no, WWE that was a joke, please if your reading this, don't take it seriously!
What about a RVD vs Cena feud? I would watch Smackdown if they did that. :D

how about billy gunn and charlie haas linking up as a tag team as the new NAO ?
im liking the idea of stables and have lots of mini fueds, FBI should get someone new in, as corkscrew said Kenzo head Kyodai as a real Yakuza leader. Mordicai could start a new ministry, haymen could expand further than the dudlys and kerupt/blackmail others to join him (i.e like did with taker). they could even look into bringing back grand master sexy to reform too cool.
then they could have plenty of fueds and make different story lines, although the wwe creative team wouldnt be able to cope and would just mess it up and make poor story lines for the fueds.
how about more airtime for the CW's and making a proper tag division within SD to improve ratings?

XPAC Can't come back anyway, Rey Rey uses half a third his moveset. IE Bronco Buster. He'd only have X Factor and Spinning heel kick left.

Oh and Flair is always using the low blow so Xpac wouldn't have a set up to his finisher.
*Desperately scrambles around looking for loads of reasons not to bring xpac back*

1) Turn Cena heel.
Reason- Smackdown is in dire need of a hot act, and Cena was red hot when he was a heel. Re-introduce the heel aspects of his character, and basically follow the SCSA blueprint of 96/97.
Frankl;y, it has nothing to do with the fact that he's a face now, fear of the FCC's wrath has watered him down.
Drugs are bad, okay? There's a reason dead crowds and "get the fuck off my TV" spots are called "X-Pac heat." He's not a credible cruiser. Also, DX is dead, bringing in a new one is a horrible idea.
3) Bring in Sting.
Reason- A recognized star in a roster that is in dire need of formidable wrestlers. He is proven to draw, and easily be inserted in the World Title picture. Can also be used to get over future talent.
Too bad the WWE would never use him to put over talent.
4) G-TV
Reason- Can be used to advance or create storylines.
5) Shane as GM.
Reason- Fans like him, and he could be no worst than Angle. This will bring interest, and he can shake things up, in a good way. Definately a better pick than Steph. Also, can work as a heel GM or a face GM.
Dear GOD! NO!
6) Introduce new gimmicks.
Reason- See what sticks to the wall and go with it. So far, Zenzo Suzuki sucks, despite his tremendous build-up. Conduct weeks worth of vignettes to get fans interested in seeing something new.
I think they need some more TALENT first.
Evolution isn't really a good thing. It's a bad thing. Stables in and of themselves don't make a show better...In fact, they can bog down a show.
Which is why live shows draw about the same as prerecorded shows. because people are so much more excited by the live shows, but they don't tune in anyway?
Other problem there. Cable. UPN. Major network. Not gonna go live.
9) Change the settings.
Reason- I could tolerate the blue and black...but silver and blue is just ridiculousy ugly. Also, changing the theme song wouldn't hurt either. I recommend Linkin Park's "Nobody's listeining". I think it would create a good opening feel to the show.
Queer Eye for the wrestling guy?
If Smackdown uses that pussy song, I'll really hate the show.
Isn't it a little LATE for this? He's already WON THE FUCKING TITLE!
Cena is one of the few guys that draws based on his name alone. He is a mega-face at the moment, and he is getting a huge push by looking unstoppable as of late. If he beats the Taker, he will definitely be a credible main event face on Smackdown for a long time.
X-Pac fucking sucks ass, that's why he was always in a stable or tag team all of the time. Then again, so was Bradshaw
Taping a show is also cheaper than running a live show. Vince wants to save some money, and what better way to do it than sticking the "B-show" with spoilers available to everyone so that even less people will watch. I wouldn't mind if they had a live show on Smackdown once in a while, say once every 2 months. This may spark a bit of interest, albeit probably not too much if the show continues to suck.
