Was Kenzo speaking, or just randomly throwing together syllables?

I mean, I've heard a lot of japanese in the past, and even learned to understand a little (Very little...), but it just didn't sound right.

I'm guessing he was really speaking Japanese simply because he knows how to speak Japanese so having him just speak jibberish when he is perfectly capable of actually speaking Japanese would be pointless.

I also know a bit of Japanese, and I agree it sounded a bit off. When Kenzo said "United States of America", shouldn't it have come at the beginning of the sentence? In fact he didn't even say it correctly did he? I've forgoteen the promo now, but he did seem to be swapping his sentences around.

yeah, it seems weird, but the way he said his sentences was probably so Cena could say his stuff and sound similar to what kenzo said.

Kenzo is a big piece of crap, so I don't think that anyone was even paying attention to what he said. I was just hoping that his promo (and I use that term loosely) was going to end as soon as possible.

I can summarize the promo. Here it goes.

Kenzo Suzuki: Last night, I was meeting with Vince McMahon for sushi and he told me that I had an ugly haircut. I told him that Magic Cuts is the worst haircut place in the entire United States of America.

Then he goes on about california rolls and how Godzilla was his favorite movie to cuddle to when he's with his lady.

John Cena was way off. :nono:

That promo was a bathroom break to me, I came back when Cena started to make fun of that talentless fuckwad.

I think Suzkuki has a bit of talent. Nothing comparing to Chris Benoit, but he could work if he needed too. :y:

What happens after the "bitter japanese man" gimmick? Will he join Scotty and Rikishi? I'd love to see a "Dancing Suzuki"

The thing is, I can't think of many reasons for them to have him not speaking Japanese. It just didn't SOUND like japanese to me.

Then I got to thinking, they dropped his previous gimmcik because it offended Japanese people (ironic, given the WWE's track record), so maybe they were avoiding using japanese for such a plainy derogatory promo.

He was speaking Japanese. I couldn't understand a lot of it, but it was Japanese. "United States of America" doesn't have to come at the begining, as there are ways around begining a sentence with the noun. Furthermore, the reason he probably sounded off saying it is due to the fact that America is written in katakana, which is how they pronounce non Asian words. Therefore America is pronounced A-me(long e)-li-ka ( Yeah, I know, shitty phonetics.), but if he actually knows English, and can speak it, I would assume instead of using the katakana pronunciation, he just used the normal pronunciation.

This was correct.

For example, Kenzo said his name in the sentences, "Kenzo Suzuki" instead of the other way around. The only reason he did that was because most of the listeners wouldn't know that in Japanese, the surname comes first, so that when Cena would later mock him, it would be easier to understand.

Other than that, I didn't see a problem with what Kenzo said (in fact I think he was throwing a bit more gairaigo than expected; I could have sworn he said "waifu" as in "wife" to refer to Hiroko when it came time to introduce her to the crowd).

It's safe to say that what he said was specifically positioned so that Cena could follow up later. The uninformed would have heard one of his lines as "something that sounds like booboo", so when Cena made that line about "Ohhh, the poopoothepoopoothepoopoo..." it would make sense.

Bottom line is it was a pointless promo that should never of happened. Why have a guy do promo's if he can't speak english?

So Cena can be all American instead of a bad boy?
