So, who do you all feel got snubbed from the All-Star game, and who should not be on the All-Star team? Being a Yankee fan, i don't feel Giambi should be on the team, i feel someone like Paul Konerko or Frank Thomas have done more and deserve to be on the team. I also think Pedro Martinez should be on more than Ted Lilly. As for the National League, i feel Bobby Abreau should be on the team. Your thoughts?

I'd rather have Pedro and Foulke rested for the games that matter

Jesus Shuttlesworth
07-05-2004, 02:23 PM
Yea I think Pedro should have made it. Giambi was voted on by the fans so thats why he is on there

Glad to see Posada not a starter at catcher...I was figuring it was going to be a COMPLETELY Yankee dominated infield(Except for 2B which a former Yankee is playing) I mean there is still 3 Yankee infielders but I really didn't wanna see 4 Yankee starters

Yeah, Giambi shouldn't really be starting or even be an ALL-Star. As for the snubs yeah Pedro should be there, Beltre, Dunn, Aramis Ramirez you can all make a case for.

Sucks that Beltran can't play

And it's going to be wierd to see Clemens pitching to Piazza

I'm surprised Adam Dunn isn't on the team. He's a pretty popular player and he's got 24 homeruns.

BCWWF

The only Twin who you could even possibly make a case for is Juan Rincon, but I don't think he should have made the team anyway.

Jason Giambi is the reason why the whole voting system doesn't work. He is batting 238 I think, 12 home runs, tied with Jacque Jones. Those are not all star numbers, those aren't anything, its about this season, not the past, David Ortiz got snubbed real bad there.

Hideki Matsui is going to be on the all-star team no doubt, the Japanese fans will vote him in as the last guy or whatever.

WTF is Flash Gordon doing? Is he good or something?

Torrie picked flash, McKeon picked Larkin

If we didn't have Flash right now, the Yankees wouldn't be where they are. You can count on that.

If you didn't have A-Rod, Sheffield, Matsui, Giambi, Lofton, or Brown you would have a similar payroll to the Twins. :shifty:

Halladay Miz, Halladay.

I do think each team should be represented. And I think the system in place, while flawed, is the best system to use to keep people interested and feeling like they are a part of it.

Abreu
Drew
Dunn
Konerko

The blatant ones were Overbay, Abreu, and Konerko/Thomas

How the fuck Sosa got in is beyond me.

14 HR 33 RBIs, .272

terrible

Same with Giambi, even if I am a fan of his. :o

The Braves got uber-snubbed in that "every team must be represented" rule. At least give each team 2 picks. Seriously. I know that most of the braves haven't been spectacular, but Estrada is not the only Braves All-Star player.

Ken Harvey?!!? :nono:

What about guys like Lawton, Hafner, and Konerko? The "every team must be represented" rule does suck.

Ken Harvey?!!? :nono:

He's batting like .350.

He was batting .326 at the time of his selection, with only ten homeruns. There were better choices available.

Well i'm a Yankee fan as you know but meh, Giambi shouldn't be there and certainly not starting at 1st, i'd rather have seen Paul Konerko or David Ortiz in there.

You can't argue with the voting, you can however argue with the Tom Gordon

John la Rock
07-11-2004, 01:56 PM
it's a shame that Griffey won't be able to participate :(

Anyways I think Beltre got snubbed the most

ct2k
07-11-2004, 05:34 PM
Leiter has a 2.05 era so amongst starters i assume that's the lowest but on mlb.com is has Ben Sheets at the top with 2.26 and no sign of Al :-\

BCWWF

OK, the Indians having four guys was alright, I can live with that, but now they let Westbrook in, I am going to have to become old BCWWF now...

Johan Santana or Juan Rincon clearly deserve it more. Johan leads the league in K's, has had an amazing ERA in the past few weeks, would have a much better record except games like today, he lets a 2 run homer early on and the Twins don't score another run. If these guys for the Indians were really so good they wouldn't be sub 500 in the AL Central. We all know the Twins and White Sox are far from perfect, besides four players the Twins bats have been horrible and have had some major bullpen issues, there's no reason that the Indians have five guys more deserving than Juan Rincon

ct2k
07-11-2004, 05:42 PM

BCWWF

Pedro declined I think

ct2k
07-11-2004, 06:04 PM
Fair enough i guess, that leaves Cleveland (4th in the AL central) with 5 and Boston (2nd in AL east) with 2 now that Schilling is out

The Outlaw
07-11-2004, 06:07 PM
Ronnie Belliard, Matt Lawton, Victor Martinez, and C.C. Sabathia were the first four.

All deserve it I think.

Westbrook was the fifth?

BCWWF
07-11-2004, 06:11 PM
I have no problem with the first four from Cleveland, I think they all deserve it. There are many other guys out there who deserve that spot more than Westbrook though. I used those two Twins as an example, but a case could be made for other guys too.
