View Full Version : RVD Signs New WWE Contract, SummerSlam Main Event

WWE superstar Rob Van Dam has signed a short-term contract extension with the company. RVD is one of the most underutilized talents in WWE today and for months there has been speculation as to whether or not he would stay with WWE after his contract expired this month. The contact he signed is only for a few months and was used so he can remain on the active roster while negotiations regarding his future continue.
SummerSlam is just around the corner and WWE is still deciding who they want to have challenge the new WWE Champion, Bradshaw. JBL and Eddie Guererro headlined two back-to-back SmackDown! PPV shows and the matches were very well received backstage. Having Eddie get screwed out of his title at the Great American Bash left the door open for another rematch between the two competitors at SummerSlam. There are many that expect The Undertaker to get thrown into the mix somehow, and it is not unlikely that we see JBL vs. Eddie Guererro vs. The Undertaker for the WWE Championship.
It should also be noted that Kurt Angle is training for a SummerSlam return, we will see if he is in ring shape by August and if this has any effect on the show's main event.

The plan for Summerslam on Smackdown is either JBL vs Taker one on one, or they may throw Eddie in there and make it a 3 way.
Angle is scheduled to wrestle at Summerslam. If Eddie gets kept out of the title match, it will be Eddie v Angle, if they put Eddie in the title picture, then it will be Angle v Cena.
We'll likely no more, after SD next week. If Angle costs Eddie the Cage Match, then you know thats where they are going. Then if Taker ocmes in and lays out both guys, were likely looking at a 3 way.

Wait, Angle is training??? Awesome! I didn't know he had the surgery already (though it'd make sense... I just didn't hear about when he had the procedure done).
This also probably means Eddie is going to lose in two weeks on SD! if they're trying to figure out how JBL will defend against.

THANK GOD.
Now we won't have to deal with endless speculation threads and news items about whether RVD is going to re-sign.
Until this contract is up, anyways.

Where else is he gonna go?
TNA's not a big draw, and they;'re pissing their money away on the American Dream and Hogan slots.
Indie Feds aspire to be dark-match-draws.
And Japan...They banned the Beatles for drugs...The fucking BEATLES. What chance does RVD have?

KK I see your point. I wasn't saying that he had better options. I was just stating that he'll still be stuck in midcard hell, that's all

For one of the vey few occasions ever that I can recall, we disagree on this point.
Look at it this way.....would you rather watch HHH v HBK again, or RVD v Eddie Guerrero?
Who's the man?
