I'm not utterly sure if this is the right forum for this, considering it's both music and video games, but I figured the latter makes more sense.

Anyway, I've been trying to find the music from the .hack// games (Infection, Mutation, Outbreak, and Quarentine)- mainly of the Eight Phases. I asked Kapoutman for help awhile back, but I don't think he could turn up anything.

I'm wondering if anyone could help me on this. WinMX and Soulseek have turned up next to nothing, and I have no idea what to do now..

www.ocremix.org

You will find hott remixes there. If you join the forums, you could ask and see where they get the original themes. You could always add the songs you want to your wishlist. Also, start using torrents. I find a lot of video game soundtracks on www.suprnova.org with Nova Torrent.

I'm both a slow-learner and an idiot, so you'll have to educate me. When you say "Torrent", you are speaking not of water, ja? :shifty:

Okay, um..

How do I download a "torrent" or whatnot?

Better figure it out soon, and get your downloading on. I have a feeling in a few weeks, Suprnova is gonna be gonna. TechTV showed it on the Screen Savers.

What? FUCK! :n:

Fryza, A torrent file (.torrrent) is a small file (usually smaller than 100k) that contains instructions for downloading a much larger file or folder (albums, movies, comics, programs, anything really). You get the torrents from places like www.suprnova.org and use torrent programs like Nova Torrent (my personal fav), Bit Tornado or Bit Torrent to execute them. It seems that most people can only get max speeds of 50K/s on a good day, but I've broken 360K/s before ( ).

It's a really good way to get hard to find stuff and cracked programs.

Okay, in the Games section, I am right to assume those are video games you download and burn, not the audio files from the games?

Yes. Those are complete games. The section you want is Music. Note that they don't always have great stuff. Also note that the torrents are updated daily so check frequently.

Al'ight.

Well, would there be a way to extract the solo music files from the Game section?

I don't think so. Most of those games are .iso CD images, meaning that you have to burn them to CD and then install them the same way as if you bought it legitimately.

Similar to this, does anyone know how I can get the music from Total Annihilation? OR maybe get it from the CD?

I am on dial-up so torrents are not really worth my time. :\

Like Funky said, OCR is pretty good. If you can find the game you want on there, they usually have a bunch of remixes, plus a link to download the original game's tracks. For NES games it's usually in .nsf format, and .rsn for SNES. Not sure about other consoles, I haven't downloaded anything from them.

As for Total Annihilation... I might still have the CD laying around somewhere, so I might be able to rip the tracks off it if I can find it.

VGMusic.com. Includes music in midi form for past and new games; including remixes and melodies. I got tons of music that I add lyrics to, like a kick-ass song to the tune of the Gurudo Valley theme.

I just noticed. I type "gonna be gonna" instead of "gonna be gone." I'm such an idiot.
