I figured I would post this here since its mainly about a movie.
Over at Bloody-disgusting.com they have an article up about The Rock being in the new Spy Hunter movie. But the article isnt only about that. The article is a small interview with The Rock in which he says that if Spy Hunter gets held off due to script/weather or holiday problems than he has said that is interested in joining the cast for the DOOM movie.

I dont have a problem with Rock making his movies and all as long as they turn out good. The one thing that is worrying me is that Rock is now talking about taking on two movies that are video game to movie crossovers and as we have seen in the past, this is the ultimate sign of failure. Might Rock be able to bring video game movies out of the slump. I guess we will only know when the movies come out.

Maybe to bring the videogame movies out of a slump they should start get legitimate scripts for the damn things and spend less of their budgets on big CGI monsters and explosions. Or in other words, if they want a good movie, they should quit what they're doing with the movies now and try something different.
Director: "Ok, Rocky..."
Rock: "It's 'The Rock'"
Director: "Oh, sorry The Rock....Anyway, in this scene the giant killer android shark with lasers for teeth is getting ready to bite you and your big breasted co-star when you pull out your big plastic bazooka and shoot him, but not quick enough to stop him from tearing off most of the big breasted co-star's clothes off..."
Hell, it worked for Spiderman...
Mortal Kombat 1 was good.
I think that about sums up the video games to movies sucesses though.
I heard about this along time ago.
He's supposed to be Duke Nukem too in the movie.

This movie needs a hard R rating for it to be any good at all. It's DOOM for godsakes.

Resident was fucking awful, it had no relevence to the game except zombies and the zombies wernt even the same as in the game.
The second one looks like it could be better as it's actually loosly involved around RE:2

Its not that video game movies suck...its just picking video games that have no story line to them, then making a movie, doesnt work.
Resident Evil had a good story line, it was a good a movie.
How much can you do with 2 plumber brothers who save a princess from a dinosaur?

I can see your point, but the Resident Evil movie was actually a prequal to the first game (Resident Evil Zero or Resident Evil) which was a dumb move to say the least, but it wasn't that bad, once you realized that...
Also, the second one is pretty good, it's based more on RE3 then RE2....but then again, pretty much, thoses game shared the same storyline, just different characters
