That's pretty cool how they show the in between skits about how there could be sniper fire and stuff. I think the WWE has done a lot of stupid shit lately but I think it's really cool that they pulled this show off for the troops.

They should have this as a hidden arena in the next Smackdown game.

If you were in the Army you would enjoy it.
If you weren't a racist, I would enjoy your posts more. :n:

I thought it was great. The troops got to enjoy themselves...the stars were somewhat out of character (heels and faces side by side)...
I think Lesnar should've been there...
and I think the Cena/Big Show match should've been for the title. (c'mon, the US Soldiers getting to see a face win the US title right in a warzone? I don't see how they managed NOT to do it.)

I enjoyed tonights Smackdown. Santa's Little Helpers
Cena winning with the F-U was pretty cool as well. I don't understand why he got a Stunner though. :-\

It's Austin's character. He's never cared if you were heel or face.

Its also the WWE's policy of not letting new talent get over, Cena was getting close, so they sent out Austin to make him seem insignificant.
To answer other questions:
Lesnar wasn't on the show because he has a minor injury that needs healing (I think his knee but I could be wrong), and thats why he wasn't booked on the trip. Originally they wanted him there, but when he got hurt they figured it was better to keep him at home so he wouldn't have to go through the long flight and the less than ideal sleeping arrangements.
The match with Cena and Show wasn't for the title because I think the WWE realized they will draw a very low number for this show. Most people spend time with their families on Christmas and not watching Smackdown. So the thinking was probably that they give Cena the non title win in front of the smaller audience to set up the title win in front of a larger audience either on SD or at a PPV where they can make money off the deal.
Thoughts on the Show:
Great, fun show, except for that deal with Austin and Cena which I thought pretty much killed Cena. Hopefully very few people were watching.

It always seems to be.
It's annoying as fu</>ck when all the talent seems to job to a guy who's not even wrestling...

Its so sad that they make mistakes like this. I mean one could argue that they just did that because the troops like Austin, and he should stun everyone to send em "home" happy. So fine do that, but dont F'N air it on TV.
Or God forbid they use Austin's popularity and status to um hello, PUT OVER Cena. Why not have him drink a beer with the kid to put him over instead of making him look like a mid card JOB guy.
Pissed me off.

It was all a one time dealio for our soldiers in Iraq. It seemed like they enjoyed themselves. I think we can forgive the WWE for allowing the most popular man in the last ten years in wrestling go over, and as for the US Title...
They don't make money OVER a title change...because frankly, no one knows the title is going to change (aside from people that read internet spoilers, and even then, it's not a guarantee) until after it's happened, so that bit is rather :-\ at best.

It was all a one time dealio for our soldiers in Iraq.
And it makes perfect sense:
Cena: Good with words.
Our Troops: One Word: Marines.
Austin: Heavy Drinker and hunting fan
Our Troops: Get drunk and go on safari in the local zoo.
Austin: Simple, straightforward catch-phrases used ad nasuem.
Our Troops: "Saddam has weapons of mass destruction."
Austin: Redneck.
Our Troops: Duh.
Cena: Wears pants that hang low.
Our Troops: Know that if you're doing that in Levenworth, it's because you're getting banged by Bruno.
Cena: Prolific rhymes.
Our Troops: Only if you count "The Man From Nantucket."
Austin: Stone Cold
Our Troops: http://www.iraqbodycount.net/
Is it any wonder they'd pop bigger for Austin? :D
If you were in the Army you would enjoy it.
So the WWE have alienated their audience so much now that you can only enjoy the show if you are in the army? You stupid cu</>nt.

Thats why I said it would be fine if they had Austin stun Cena for the troops only, but to air it, and make Cena look like a bitch to a guy who is a cunt hair away from being crippled is pretty stupid.
Back to the US title, If people think Cena is going to win the US title at RR and they like Cena, then they are more likely to order the show. Thats the whole thing, you build up something, make people want it, give it to them (for a price) and then make them want to see something else. To give it away last night would have been a waste of potential money.

There's always the standard rematch, or they could've put Cena against Lesnar citing the old "US Champ = #1 Contender" rule that's never used anymore. This is just my opinion.

But there is more money is the title chase then there is in title defences. As for Lesnar, yeah they could have went that route, but he was hurt and couldn't appear, plus Lesnar shouldn't be doing any JOBs until he loses the title.

I caught bits and pieces of SD! (was at a party). It seemed like a pretty fun show, and it's nice of the WWE to surprise the troops and give them a little fresh air from the everyday rigors of peacekeeping and such.
