Secret Chiefs 3's album "Book M" might be just what you're looking for. Also check out their songs "The 4" and "The 3" from their new album, "Book of Horizons."

The only thing I know which gets remotely close is the Mr Bungle song "Desert Search For Techno Allah"... and even then it's probably not what you're after.

I'm just basically looking for techno bass beats with arabic type instruments.
I'll download some of those tunes, Pancakes.

Get mine as well.
Since Secret Chiefs 3 aren't a techno band by any stretch of the imagination...

lol before I opened this topic, I saw that asphyxy was the last one who replied and thought, "I bet he left a bunch of suggestions for metal songs because he is a sarcastic son of a bitch."
Yeah I can't help you here man. But I saw a movie called American Chai about some Indian musician... if that is at all relevant.

I downloaded a bunch of albums off SUprnova titled Best Arabic Mixes VOl 1 - 6.
Some good stuff. They covered Better off Alone by Alice Deejay. LOL
I still have to look for the songs in this thread.

Loreena McKennit, although a Celtic artist at heart, has some music with Arabic overtones. For Example, Night Ride Over the Caucasus

Arabic is a pretty broad request...
I'd suggest Cassa Loca who are a Romanian group. I'd suggest checking out the album "De Senzatie!" and the songs "Scrisoare pentru tata" "E rindual tau" and especially "Ce bine-mi pare ca ai luat tzeapa". The last song rules.
For 'Gypsy music' which is what most people consider to be 'Arabic' the most accessible album is Goran Bregovic "Underground" which was the soundtrack to the film of the same name. Check out "Mesecina".
The best advice I can give is to go and sit in the street bars in Bucharest and listen to what's on the radio and see what you like. Impractical advice but a pretty good way to spend the summer.
Hope this helps.
