CEEEEEELABRATE GOOD TIMES COME ON!

Finnally they got that belt off of him. Now he can finnally go after the World title. Took him long enough to drop it as well.

He could have continued to get wins on guys like Edge (they could ahve made it a cheap win, to keep Edge's heat for HHH), Jericho and Benoit after he drops the World Title.

Only good that come of it is if Orton gets it back next month in say a Ladder Match. But then if they go in that direction, why even take the title off him in the first place?

On December 14, 2003...a young man by the name of Randy Orton got the one up on then Champion Rob Van Dam to capture not only the Title, but also our imaginations. He gave way to a promising new future for the number one wrestling company in the world, and gave all fans a frash new era to live through. Randy Orton went on to hold that very same Intercontinental Championship for an incredible 209 days. He was wrongfully robbed of the oportunity to give to the belt, what he had given to the fans. It was funny in my house. I was sitting in my room watching the ppv and when Orton got pinned I screamed out "NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and put my hands over my face. My dad and stepmom ran in thinking something bad happened to me. They came in and asked what happened and my little brother had to tell them that Orton lost.

It was a very sad moment tonight when he lost. He even had the crowd behind him for most of the match.

If Edge is going to be feuding with Triple H then they'll probably have a match at Summerslam. Am I wrong? And Triple H will never go for a midcard title again.

It leaves the door open for Randy to get a World Title shot, but after losing tonight it wouldn't make sense to push Randy into the main event just yet.

Leading into Vengeance I was thinking "Randy should retain.", but now the PPV is over I'm thinking "Maybe it wasn't such a bad move.".

Edge is a credible threat to Evoluiton, and I think he could do more with the title than Orton. I would have pissed myself to see Orton run out during the part of the main event when Evolution (save Orton) and Eugene poured out to interfere, and RKO Triple H while Benoit is standing in position for one. Benoit would then cover, and Orton would rejoin Evolution on RAW when Triple H apoligizes for not being there for Orton.

I'm expecting either some kind of rematch or an Edge vs. Benoit match, just like the Ultimate Warrior vs. Hulk Hogan one at WrestleMania VI (I think). Who knows? Maybe the WWe is planning a Canadian Holocaust of RAW?

I think (actually hope) the WWE gives HHH a rematch tommorow night on RAW. Then during the main event HHH gets RKO'ed by Orton and loses. Then the breakup occurs and we see HHH vs Orton at SS.

Nah, it's going to be a slow turn. Innovater just told me that Evolution, minus Orton, came out to help HHH in is match. So, it's pretty obvious HHH is going to be pissed at Orton for not being there. Well, I hope they do that. Shoud be fairly intersting. I say HHH and Orton have their match at Mania 21

Yeah I think thats as close to a gurantee as youre going to get (waits as LC books tix to LA for Mania). The only question I have is which guy will turn babyface. All along Ive been assuming it would be Orton (he's young, arrogant, etc) but the more I see and hear of Orton, the more I think the fans will turn him baby.

I wish I could go to Mania. Otherside of the country though. :( Anyway, yeah, I have been assuming Orton would stay heel all along too, but each week, more and more, it looks as if Orton will turn on Evolution and go babyface. Now, I actually wouldn't mind this. I would've at first cause Orton as a heel rules, but I can see this thing play out in my head and I can see Orton as the "standing up to his abusive mentor" kind of thing and I see this working. If Orton goes babyface though, I see him winning the Title at Mania. And not the IC Title folks. :D

Orton had already established his reputation by being the longest reigning IC champ in the past 7 years. In that regard, I don't think taking the belt off of him was necessarily a bad idea.

HOWEVER, I don't think the belt suits Edge. I would rather prefer Benjamin holding the belt, but the WWE originally had high hopes for Edge before his injury. In fact, if Edge wasn't injured, he would've gotten the main event push Guerrero got earlier this year.

Personally, I don't find Edge entertaining. :n:

I'm not sure he's even moderately over, really.

The fact that he was getting fewer and softer pops than the HEEL in the match kind of make you wonder. When it came down to cheering a talented, charismatic heel with a strong gimmick or wrestling a middling face with no gimmick (Admittedly, I think Edge could be a lot better than he is...), they went for Orton. Maybe this is a sign?

Of course, the WWE doesn't understand signs and portents. It didn't matter that Mordecai was putting people to sleep until he actually dozed off in one of his matches...Good thing SD!'s taped, yeh>?

I don't really mind that the IC title has been taken off of Orton. However I hate the fact that Edge has it. HE has been so boring since he returned and it would have been better if they had given the title to Benjamin or maybe Jericho since he isn't getting near the title any time soon.

Gotta disagree here.
I think it's a great move.
And I also think that Orton will get it back before Summerslam.

If Orton had retained the title, I was gonna post a discussion thread titled: Does Orton Devalue the IC Title?

Basically I think that because Orton has held the title for so long, that it's denied other wrestlers the opportunity to get recognised as being at that level, and because he's always won, either by cheating or by that lame ass 'snatch-victory' move, he's never looked like he's been better than anyone else.

For me recently the IC Title has held less value than it should, so if they've dropped it to Edge, it brings Edge up and makes him more legitimate when challenging for the main event.

We've all said for ages that RAW needs more main-event challengers, apart from HHH/HBK, and the only way to give them credibility is by giving them victories over others, and one of the best, proven methods is by giving them a loan of the IC Title.

Anyway, Orton will have the strap back before Summerslam, and Edge will move on to someone else.

That was such a great match (besides the 15 minute submission spot by Orton), and near the end I was cheering when both men got near falls. Orton was a great champion, and this will only lead to another great match between the two. I think they will push Orton to the world title within 2 years. I salute you, Randy Orton!

Technically, Randy came three days short of a seven-month title reign. But, check out the company having a six-month title reign puts him in:

Pat Patterson (July '79-April '80)
Ken Patera (April '80-December '80)
Pedro Morales (December '80-June '81)
Don Muraco (January '83-February '84)
Tito Santana (February '84-September '84, July '85-February '86)
Greg Valentine (September '84-July '85)
Randy Savage (February '86-March '87)
Honky Tonk Man (June '87-August '88)
Mr. Perfect (November '90-August '91)
Shawn Michaels (October '92-May '93)
Razor Ramon (September '93-April '94)
The Rock (December '97-August '98)
Randy Orton (December '03-July '04)

That's not bad company to be in.

I'm not a huge Orton fan, but I must say that he gave more credibility to the IC title just through his promos than anybody has in a very long time. If for nothing else, Orton needs to be looked at as an example of how a wrestler can inject credibility into a title that's been suffering for it.
