My friend has a virus that I've never heard of before and I hope somebody here could help.

She tries to log onto windows and everything runs normally, until Notepad automatically opens up and gives her this weird message, then it logs her off her computer.

I can't find anything on Symantec.com or McAfee.com (or more like I can't read through everything) and I wonder if someone on here has a solution

Thanks alot

she tries to open up notepad and gets some weird error? erm something is probably wrong with the NOTEPAD.EXE files in her computer. If notepad open automatically try disabling it from startup!

Are you sure its notepad? or is it a dialog box? saying something like you have 30 seconds to save any work before it shuts down, cause thats the blaster virus if im right.

Nah, I checked with her.

Notepad automatically opens up and and she's logged off soon after. And not logged off as in shutdown either, her computer just goes back to the log in screen.

Boot from an antivirus CD, or safe mode and see if it works.

It sounds like an old virus that used to run around 1994 or something. That one used to close the whole computer after notepad opened though. I'll do more research and get back to you.
