View Full Version : Joe...Just Joe.

Today I came across a young chap whose name escaped me. When I asked him, he replied, "Joe." For the strangest reason, I immediately answered back rather cleverly, "Just Joe?" The rest of the conversation was a blur....I nodded my head a lot and smiled. I became frozen, trying to dig out that whisp of a memory I have left of where the HELL that came from. A few minutes later, I had my answer: Joe...Just Joe.

Well, I remember seeing the guy, and I suppose that was a start...but I didn't want to jump to the conclusion that he was a wrestler. I began doing some research and found everything. That is, I found everything there is to find about the guy on the internet, which surprisingly sums up to 555 pages with a slight mention of his name or gimmick. Still, considering the subject it wasn't a bad start.

So that brings me to the topic at hand: Here we have a guy whose gimmick is to walk up to you, tell you that so-in-so has been talking smack about you, then laugh it up when the two of you duke it out. But it didn't end there. Actually, my first memory of "Just Joe" was one of "Damn! The WWE writers don't even bother to give these jobbers names anymore. This guy's gonna lose." but he didn't. He WON! I was delighted in this guy, and I wanted more. Unfortunately, as I was saying, his gimmick didn't end there. Soon he was turned insane, babbling to himself (as if we haven't seen an insane guy before) and he became the jobber that I had once envisioned him as, just by hearing his name. Perhaps his gimmick was too short term. Perhaps Vince wanted to see more poop jokes inserted into the shows and the creative staff was forced to focus less on Joe and more on entertaining Vince.

That's where I leave you all. What are your memories of "Just Joe"? Was he cut out for the WWE? Would you rather see gimmicks like this return, or are you satisfied with lightning bolts hitting the ringposts? Pictures? Is Joe really gay?

Unfortuately, my research didn't go too far, as I got interested in other wrestlers like Chris Hero, et al....so give me feedback here. I don't care anymore on whom.

I liked Just Joe (Joe E. Legend). In fact, I was watching an indy show on late-night TV a couple of months ago, and he was wrestling, and the crowd was alternately chanting "Legend" and "Just Joe" at him.

Entertaining gimmick (sort of a precursor to Sean O'Haire not telling us anything we didn't already know) that got the shaft before its time.

I don't rememebr him too much. I do rememebr not liking his ring attire though. I was indifferent to him. Trying to think of Just Joe reminds me of Tiger Ali Sihng.

I read something somewhere that Tiger Ali Singh suffered a bad concussion or head injury and the WWE just flat out released him. I read somewhere on the net that he was sueing the WWE. Don;t know if theres any truth to it...

Just Joe (Joe E. Legend / Joe X. Legend) is an awesome awesome talent. I remember watching him before his time in the WWF, then during it - and thinking - "What in the world are doing to him?".

Like everyone said, the gimmick was pretty good, but poorly executed (not on his part - on WWF's) due to a bunch of other senseless garbage being on TV (like TS6 said).

He's definitely had some excellent matches, and is solid all around - mat wrestling, comedy, brawling, some flying - all of it. He is an extremely overlooked talent, and really great for a big guy.

He was working with NWA-TNA, and had a good match or two there. I haven't heard his name mentioned with them, and don't know if/think that he's still there. Too bad - as they definitely could have made him a big player there.

Yeah, I remember he had a match against (I think) Dean Malenko on Heat. It was good stuff. Never saw him again afterward.

Is Just Joe the guy who always said "Don't ask me, I'm just the messenger"?

Yeah. He'd say like "Joey Abs said your such a big wuss bag" and then the guy would get upset, and he'd say "Hey, I'm just the messenger"...He was kind like the whole "But I ain't one to gossip - so you didn't hear that one from me" deal from In Living Color.

Just Joe stands out in my mind as one of the biggest mistakes WWE ever made. If they'd brought him in as Joe E. Legend, he would have been huge. I'll be seeing him wrestle tomorrow. It's actually his last show in North america for a while, I think, because he's moving to Germany.

Last I remember of him was he tried his 'Just Joe' talk on Austin at the PPV he came back at, and Austin beat him up - thus ending his career.

Yeah I remember this guy. He just disappeared. I saw him on TNA a few times as Joe E. Legend, or just Legend, I forget. And I was all  , that's Just Joe! He was good too.

Im watching the Unforgiven where Austin came back trying to figure out who ran him over. Austin is talking to Rock and Just Joe comes in. Austin kicks his ass.
