I've watched the last 4 raw's and smackdown's back to back, and 1 thing I have noticed as bugging me is that there seems to be a definite glass ceiling in Smackdown.

On Smackdown, you have JBL VS Eddie G as the top wrestlers, with angle and taker (slightly) thrown into their stories recently.

However, on Raw; you get HHH, HBK and Benoit. However, Benoit is interacting with Edge and Eugene, as well as matches with Kane, and HHH is interacting with the rest of evolution as well as shelton benjamin (prior to his injury).

Therefore, in Raw, you get 10 odd guys, who are all interacting with the world champ and the number 1 and 2 contenders.

On Smackdown, it seems that for the past 3 months, it has been all JBL VS Eddie, and no one else has been involved (except angle).

Does any1 know what I'm talking about, and has any1 else noticed this too?

P.S. This is what I see as the major problem with smackdown atm

The way I see it, Triple H is a one man glass ceiling.

As opposed to the main event on Raw where in the past 6 months there have been 5o title defenses between Triple H and Benoit?

What's coming up tonight on Raw? Oh, shock!

KK this is only the 2nd one on one title defense for Benoit against Trips. Everyone on here talks like they wrestle against each other every fucking week.

Wow. Why even say they have a program then?

OK.

Benoit VS Trips in the main event @ the most recent PPV (the name escapes me, vengence right?)
But we have also had:
Benoit VS Kane at Bad Blood
Benoit VS HBK on Raw
and "squash matches" (where we knew the result) like Benoit VS Eugene
Evolution w/Eugene VS Edge and Benoit (i think)

as well as:
Benoit and Edge VS La Resistance
Benoit and Edge VS Batista and Ric Flair

on Smackdown, it is always!
Eddie VS JBL
with the occasional JBL VS a squash opponent (El Gran Luchador) or Eddie VS a squash opponent (Basham's).

I think this is the main reason why Raw is on top of smackdown currently

I don't think that is specifically the problem. That works quite well, in fact, if the right two guys are put in the top 2 spots. Last year around this time they were doing ok with Angle/Lesnar. I think they'd be doing just fine if it was Angle/Guerrero instead of JBL/Guerrero.

Except it's BARELY on top, and only because of Vince trying to make Raw the flagship show.

Eddie's program has made JBL look strong. The squash matches have made him look like a heel.

Meanwhile, Benoit looks like he's not worth our time becaus eTriple H main events over the champion. Kane comes off as weak, which fucks another superstar, even as it fails to make Benoit look good. Michaels in two of the Triple Threats has made the champion look even LESS worthy.

Wow. You're right. All that flitting around with the silly matches du jeur sure makes the Raw scene lookeven better.

Of course, the most amusing thing about all of this is that Smackdown is getting better ratings.

Then again, not so amusing. Once Vince gets a sniff that people are watching Smackdown, then he'll Raw do the exact same...

Best not to think about it.

I thought Raw had eeked aheade.

I guess that totally disproves the "Raw is on top" comment then, if you're right.

Ah. I might be wrong. My information is two weeks old. Something was mentioned on "Between the Ropes" (I think it was the one where Corino was hosting) how Vince is pissed that Smackdown is ahead in the ratings, since he intentionally stacked the Raw show to get renewed on Spike TV.

Yeah, he has.

Which makes it all the funnier that he still can't get Raw to get the Lead.

I think you see more guys in the top mix on TV on RAW because they have more talent. RAW can interchange their top 10 guys and have solid-great matches on TV. On SD they dont have that luxury. You got Eddie as the only full time working top guy who can have strong matches. Cena would do fine, but they seem to be holding him out of the top mix in order to avoid buring him out before he eventually takes the title. Taker is there, but he's a part times, ditto for Angle. JBL is a top guy, but isn't on par work wise with most of the top guys on RAW. Then there is BT and RVD who could be taken in and out of the main event picture and have decent matches, but few take them seriously as top guys. I think if they get Angle working more and get Taker to work on TV again, then it'll seem slightly more balanced, but right now it doesn't because of the inactivity or lack of skill from the top guys on SD.
