Chris Benoit. The Rabid Wolverine. Toothless Aggression.
J.R.: "He's tapping out!!! But Benoit won't let go!!! BAH GAWD!!!"
http://wwfsky.xiloo.com/starfiles/Chris%20Benoit_2.jpg
Anybody else remember this guy? Benoit used to deliver the most savage chops, the craziest german suplexes, and he did it all in a cold, methodical,
and as J.R. would put it, "machine-like" fashion. This was the guy I used to go insane about.
In my opinion, when Benoit first came to the WWE, he was one of the best mid-card heels around town. He put on a classic feud with Chris Jericho. He put on a classic feud with Angle( Too bad he was a good guy in all that ). And him and the Rock had a great(though short) mini-feud.

^(look at that tight ass bridge)
Now lets take a look at what I get today: Chris Benoit getting his shit kicked every which way by Batista. Chris Benoit always having to beat the odds. Chris Benoit hugging Eugene. Chris Benoit pretending to have mic skills.
Chris Benoit doesn't HUG people. He kicks their shit in. And he doesn't talk, either. Instead, he puts them in the crossface until either A) They shut up or B) Twelve Thousand referees rip him off the guy.
People, were not seeing Chris Benoit at his best today. Were seeing him WATERED DOWN. Their making him everything a "face" is supposed to be. And I just don't dig that, because what were seeing is not the person the WWE has tried to convince us for years that he is.
You know what would make me like this new Benoit? For him to give Triple H ten continuous german suplexes, while the crowd went crazy and counted along.(Remember Heyman as an Announcer? "J.R., I have no compassion for a man who gives another man 10 GERMAN SUPLEXES!!!" )
I'd also just like to see him sit there with someone in the crossface, as refs try to pull him off. People would love it. It would show everyone that he's still got that aggression and he's not some all-american good boy champ.
Bring back the old Chris Benoit, I say!!!

the 10 Germans to Austin was fucking amazing
Yeah the savage Benoit would be bad ass to come back.
It'd be awesome for Benoit to get 5 decisions tonight by not letting go of the crossface and for Trips to keep tapping

They'll probably do the "return to your corner after each decision for a minute" rule, so if Benoit doesn't let go, he'll have a dq decision against him.

True. I wanna see 10 and the last scoring a pinfall via bridge. I wanna see someone get CRIPPLED tonight.

I was thinking this the other day, I love looking back at my PPVs back in 2000 and reminding myself of what Benoit used to be like, the difference is fucking amazing. This is why I want him to turn heel as soon as possible.

:y: That would rule. It's more likely that HHH will probably dominate though. :n:

ha, if he cripples HHH like he did to Sabu back in 94...I'd worship Benoit more than I already do
The savage Chris Benoit was great. Just the way he would practically kill people and not care and he would always do that sick smile when he was through beating someone.

Unfortunately - characters are altered when a person turns heel or face. Chris Benoit cannot act in the way that you proposed, since it's not "face-ish" (atleast in the WWE's eyes).
This is one reason why I WORRY about the WWE turning Orton. A huge reason as to why he's so over right now as a heel, is because he plays the 'cocky, holier-than-thou' gimmick better than most. Turn him face however, and he won't be able to act like that anymore.

Heyman: So how come Austin could stun the hell out of any person, no matter who, and the fans would cheer? Why wouldn't this work with Benoit? If I saw people booing because Benoit had Triple H in the crossface for too long, then i'd expect to be seeing magic ponys any minute now.
However, if what you said is the case, then I hope Benoit makes a heel turn, and soon.

I see where you're coming form Heyman, but if Orton turned face against Evolution, the fans may cheer him just because he has the aura. The whole "I'm standing up to you for what you did to me" think would let him keep his character, but encourage people to cheer him.
I think the savage Benoit could make huge money for the WWE, face or heel. Benoit is getting to the stage now where he can do heelish things and probably get cheered (aka Flair). Benoit could make a good "Stone Cold" type character, where he takes no crap from anyone. That would make a Benoit/Kane feud more interesting, IMO. I'd love to see a heel Benot with the title, but maybe have him return to his ways first.
Heyman I sort of agree with you about Orton and I would have prefer him to stay heel. But when The Rock turned face he was still the guy with a massive ego and was a cocky bastard. He just started acting like a cocky bastard to the heels. So Orton doesn't neccesarily have to start acting like some ultimate good guy. However after seeing what they did with Cena, they probably will.

I was a big fan of Beniot when he was over in WcW. I thought that he just brought something to the ring that not many wrestlers could at the time. Beniot was one of the best but it seems like know WWE is messing him up in a way. He just doesnt have the respect he had in the past. Sure he has the title now but they never even use him for anything good. And if you ask me they dont give him enough ring time. If he had more time Im sure we would all be blown away by what he could do in the ring.

The reason the Rock got over with the crowd so well was because he was funny.I don't think that if Orton turned face that after awhile people would get bored with his.As for the "old school" Benoit I would love to see it happen, but i like the whole underdog them that them seem to do with him.

^the reason I don't agree with that is because he's not so merciless anymore. No one could be merciless better than Benoit. And taking away his character, that character, almost makes him just another wrestler.

He's the baby face right now. The WWE wants him as a baby face. So they're trying to ensure that he stays that way. I have confidence in the WWE that after Benoit's first reign is over as a face... That he'll win the title in his second reign as that take no crap heel we used to dig when he was in mid card hell.
The Crippler was great, and we have to all have patience because he will return soon enough. Main eventers always go back and forth between being heels and faces. When Benoit won the title at Wrestlemania, he was actually overjoyed by it and I am sure he felt as happy as his character was portraying. This was a good way to have him win his first title as the underdog, and I am sure that after he loses it, he will probably win it again as a heel. Soon enough we will see him doing the nose-snorting thing over his fallen opponents again :)

Back to Benoit, though, who here thinks that if Benoit turned heel that we'd see him go back to that methodical crippling machine? Show of hands?
....
Well you're wrong. Benoit would be shifted to a "new" heel character in which he would come to the ring and make fun of every city's athletic teams and women.
*Waves batton through the air* LLLLLLET'S GO!!!

Benoit doesn't have the charisma to do things like that, though. Once in a while, he would cut a promo about the local teams and such, but for the most part he would be out of control and the 'Rabid Wolverine'. I would compare him to the way that Brock was as a heel; he would be kind of chicken shit at times, but still dominating and ruthless.
