While posting in the wrestling Q&A i thought something a fellow poster said -

To every fan who wastes money on Championship belts.

I mean in five years you're going to look at that belt and say "FUCK, why did I waste $300 dollars on this shit!!!"

Now does everybody think that? Just a quick poll to find out.

For the record, i want to just buy the old classic belts as they're my favorite. Worthy investment imo.

I've got the WWF Championship replica(from 2000) and its still tight as shit. We used to use it for backyard wrestling and such, but now its just a reminder of good times.

Temporary layoffs......Good Times!!

If you're a fan go ahead and buy it. Even if you don't wrestle for it with anyone it's always a good memento to have.

If you are a collector, then it obviously wouldn't be a waste of money. It just depends on how far you are willing to go. I voted no because I don't think its a waste, but I personally wouldn't buy one.

As said before, if you're into backyard wresling, they make great belts to use for your federations. The bad part of it is getting your "wrestlers" to help pay for it. Eventually a new guy shows up and wants a push to main event and you have to tell him that his ass didn't pay for it and he ain't getting it.

Speaking of which, I wish I had taken our belt as the last person to hold it before we disbanded. I doubt I can get my buddy to job to me now that he weighs like thirty pounds more than me. (fat, not muscle.)

I could never see myself spending that much money on a replica belt. I could find more useful things to do with the money.

To me, replica belts are the best investment wrestling collectors can make. If taken care of, they can last a good long time and have decent resale value, and they make a lot of sense if you don't want to invest in a single superstar-oriented collection. They make great display pieces and they'll never really go out of date. In the wrestling world IMO there are really four things to collect: autographs, which will always be in fashion but are hard to come by, action figures, which generally SUCK, stuff actually used by wrestlers, which are even harder to come by than autographs, and belts, which have long-lasting collector's value. Even if a particular title or belt style is dropped, a belt doesn't become "outdated," it becomes "classic." In a day and age where a sports card or comic book can sell for hundreds or even thousands, it seems to me that a belt is a far more substantial purchase.

And if you're poor like me, you can always just collect the miniature ones.

If the belts cost $85, I might consider getting one.

As it is, it's definatly not worth it to me.
