You haven't seen "A Christmas Story"? That movie plays 24/7 every Yuletide. :)
I personally like "Patton", since that man had some of the best catchphrases in all of history. ("War is hell. Dear God, I love it so.")
But, considering the movie recommendations you've posted on this board, I think you'd enjoy "Ran" more.

You have all been a good help. Not great, but good.
Trust me, see All The President's Men. If you don't like it you can disregard any future recommendations by me.
Christmas Story is only good because we all saw it 296276 times when we were kids and remember it being good then.
Seeing it now is kind of :-\

The Great Escape is a awesome movie. One of my favorite "war" movies.
I'd say watch Ikiru, but with your distaste of watching Seven Samurai, I don't know. It's a totally different story, but it is a tad slow. Ikiru is about a man who's basically only achievment is that he hasn't missed a day of work in so many years. All he really does is work. Then he finds out he's dying of stomach cancer, and wants to do something with his life before he dies.
Also watch Cool Hand Luke... I'm surprised you haven't seen that one.

Nosferatu, 39 Steps, Great Escape, The Third Man, Charade, Butch Cassidy, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Wild Bunch, Patton, Philidelphia Story, Metropolis, Strangers on a Train, Bridge on the River Kwai, Gone With the Wind, A Christmas Story.
That was just from a quick skim of the list. I know you seem to like more odd and strange movies, I'm more of a classics fan, which is what these mainly are. But good sees nonetheless.

Oh man, I just checked again, and I've seen all the 250. Either I waisted too much of my time, or I've luckly seen mostly good movies. Meh
I'll skip the Kurosawa films, since you've balked at them in other threads and suggest:
1. (167) Graveyard of the Fireflies (Hoyaru no Haka) Disturbingly depressing anime.
2. (68) The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
3. (93) Blade Runner
I like my movies a little dark, so take that into consideration. Also, I love silent films, but it's not for everyone, but there are some excellent ones on the list, especially late European silent films like Nosferatu and Battleship Potempkin.

Cool Hand Luke is a great movie, it has Paul Newman in it, it's the movie that made the phrase "what we have here, is failure to communicate".
Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf, is an amazing movie, you really should see it, its very very intense.

Where have you seen every movie? I'm curious as to where people find all these films. It is real hard to find a lot of shit here, even at the library.
Also, thanks everyone.

The library has every movie you listed, I think all on DVD too.
I was just asking a general question. He said he saw every movie on the top 250, but he probably doesn't have a hot ass library. That is why I was wondering where he sees them from.

Actually, I saw most of them on late night cable. Also, I have a membership at an arthouse theater which shows mostly classics and foreign films. Libraries are full of the high praised low distribution type films which populate the IMDB top 250, plus being free , I own 1 DVD and borrow a few several times a week. I have taken a few cinema courses at university where we watched movies for credits and have a card at a video store that specializes in foreign films. My friend gave me a couple of books a few christmases ago which listed cult and classic films, which I used to pick some of the movies I wanted to see. I also used to subscribe to Film Comment and American Cinematographer which often made reference to films listed on the 250. All in all it added up. Unfortunately, I've also been caught watching some of the bottom 250 as well, but all in all....
Gees I thought this would be short too. :-\

No, it means that some people are smart, and others are stupid.
Kind of like in the real world.

You need to branch out.
You need to branch out.
I have 461 movies rated on IMDB, I think that's branching out quite a bit.
Just like those movies a lot.

I agree.
I have seen a fee of those films but I can't think of any I remember standing out. Things like "Bridge over the River Kwai" are films my dad recommends to me, but I end up not really liking.
The Great Escape is excellent, though.
Gonna go watch City Of God now brilliant film

Blade Runner - overrated but still mostly holds up today
Cool Hand Luke - Paul Newman, iconic performance
The Hustler - Newman again, total self-destructive trip in this one though
All worth watching for different reasons. You might not necessarily love them or anything but they're still worth watching.
(I'm impressed you've seen Hero btw :o )
