I know it's been discussed before, even moving to NJ. I heard this morning however that they were considerering biulding a new $700m stadium and keeping it in the Bronx.

What do you think about them or the Red Sox building new stadiums?

Moving to NJ is a no-no, any new stadium should be in the Bronx. And knocking down Yankee Stadium? Doesn't bear thinking about :-S

Same goes for Fenway and Wrigley Field

I have only been to Yankee Stadium once, and it just feels like a real baseball stadium.. I am from philly and have been to the new Citizen's Bank Park which is amazing, but Yankees stadium has just a different feeling to it.. would be real disappointed if they knocked it down.. :nono:

As a Red sox fan I think that would be terrible, to lose either Fenway or Yankee stadium. Both rule.

Yeah I heard it and they can go fuck themselves if they build a new one. How are you going to tear down something like that? That stadium has so much history to go with it. And it's one of my favorite places in the world. It's a dam landmark in the NY area.

Yeah I really hope they don't build a new stadium, but this time I think they're pretty serious.

Tiger stadium was torn down wasn't it? And Camden Yards. Sure they didn't have quite the aura about them that Yankee stadium does but they had some history and tradition in them, Tiger stadium especially

Yeah, Tiger Stadium was the oldest stadium in existence before it got torn. That made me sad when they tore that down. Cobb, Crawford, Greenberg, Heilman, Gehringer, Cochrane, Kaline, Fidrich, McLain, Lolich, Newhouser, Trammel, Fielder. All great memories

Exactly. Yankee, Fenway and Wrigley as essential as they are to the game in terms of giving it character and memories...It's probably only a matter of time. I don't think memories mean much to Steinbrenner and co:-\

So what's the reason for the move? Larger capacity?

The capacity is already over 50,000:-\

I would imagine it has to do with skyboxes and new technology that can't easily be retrofitted into the stadiums as they exist now. I think it's high time, especially in Boston to build new stadiums.

Whoever told you that the Yankee's are moving to Jersey is an idiot. This thread is rediculous, didn't they renovate both Yankee and Fenway fairly recently anyway?

I heard something about buidling a new one across the street

And Fenways gotta go, I dunno why everybody wants to hold on to it? Sox haven't done shit the 92 years they have been there

Its not like its the Boston Garden or something, where the Celtics won 16 NBA Championships in it

Um, Steinbrenner himself was saying it a year or two ago.

Um, Steinbrenner himself was saying it a year or two ago.Show me evidence of the Yankees actually seriously considering playing in New Jersey. He may have said something, but I doubt anything remotely serious, but regardless I won't believe it until I see it.

I have never heard one thing about the moving to Jersey. I have heard a lot about them building a new stadium w/o tax payers funds but they want other stuff to go along with it that would have to be payed for by tax players. Like a new subway stop, and something about a shopping center or something like that?

I've seen this happen before. It's nothing more than a threat, really. They were planning on building the new Busch stadium over on the Illinois side of the river here, but it was just a threat to get St. Louisans to dig deeper in their pockets and shell out the money to pay for the stadium.

Can't see the logic in moving them out of the Bronx from the fan/traditionalist perspective. Essex County Bombers anyone?:|

Basically that's what is was/is. A threat. Steinbrenner however did state it, that's the point I was making.
