Reports are that the owners of the Sox and Yankees are in talks about a merger of the YES and NESN networks...

Could this work?

Possible... the sox/yanks issues are steinbrenner and luchino, I doubt luchino would be invovled in this, it would be John Henery and/or Tom Warner.

How would the merger work? If they both became one channel it wouldn't work because the teams play at the same times. Or would the merger mean that Boston cable would add YES and New York add NESN to their lineups?

It would be stupid. We would just get crappy shows about the Yankees. They aren't allowed to broadcast out of market games in Boston/New York/Anywhere unless the entire MLB makes money off it.

I don't want to watch Sox specials.

I'm assuming it has to do w/ Yes being in markets Nesn isn't and vice versa.

Unless something changed recently, you can broadcast an out of market game as long as it not being shown locally. IE: Yes couldn't brodcast a yanks/twins game in Boston is if was on ESPN or some channel showing locally.

I haven't heard anything new on this in a few days, I'll see if theres still any talks, my assumtion is we won't hear about it again unless it's going to go through.

They were talking about this a few weeks ago during a game, and then in the post game show. They said the Yankees games wouldnt be shown in Boston, and Boston games wouldnt be shown in New York due to an out of market rule or something. I mean they COULD show the games but then the entire MLB would have to make a profit from it or something. Atleast thats the way they made it seem like when they were talking about it on TV

So basically I would just see a bunch of Yankee crap on my local channel which I really dont wanna see...I see enough of it on ESPN
