Maybe it has to do with the increased chance of anal sex during a stay in prision that makes him an asshole???

I don't know why everyone hates The Rock for doing what he wants to do...it's not like he signed a contract with US to wrestler of US...he was a part of a business, and now he is a part of another business...same goes for Brock Lesnar...get over it...

On a side note: The Rock's movies are pretty good all things considered...better then Arnold.

- TicketMaster.com is advertising a Shawn Michaels vs. Kane match for their September 5th house show in Dallas, TX. Michaels is expected to return to action around that time, but it is unknown if he will return to TV before that date.

- Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has signed on to star in Columbia Pictures Gridiron Gang.

The project is based on a true story about a group of teenagers at a juvenile detention center who gain confidence and self-respect when their counselor puts them on a football team

I can't wait. Rocks movies rule. He's bringing back the whole genre of moralistic-action film...heck he's like Mr T for the 21st century. ;)

Seriously I'd rather see one good movie with the Rock in per year, than watch him turn stale and dull on the wrestling circiut.

Kane Knight
08-07-2004, 07:52 PM
Yeah...

What the Hell is up with this shit? People seem to look for every little thing to hate on the Rock for what he does.

I'd rather him get it on in the movies than see him half ass his way through pro wrestling. He'll fizzle eventually, and be back.

Astley316

besides if the rock came back it'd be three four months before people started calling him again and saying he's getting stale, at least when he makes an apprence it freshens raw up, or you know your going to get a decent match because it's a rare occasion, besides theres nothing left for the rock to do in wrestling, so id rather have him turn up on a part time basis then just retire

Sounds pretty cheesy, but The Rock's acting skills get another chance to shine here. I think he did pretty well in Walking Tall, and maybe he can do some more serious roles.

But Savior, WTF is up with hatin' The Great One?

Agreed. Rock does have tremendous acting skills, but his movies haven't been bringing in big numbers.

Here is why-

When the Rock was in Mummy 2, he had a supporting role. The Rock's appeal to wrestling fans might've caused them to go see Mummy 2, so The Rock's appearance was seen as a benefit (in a supporting role that is).

HOWEVER, in Scorpion King, The Rock was instead the main attraction. Having The Rock in that situation solely caused wrestling fans to go see the movie. My point- the Rock mass appeal is only within the wrestling audience.

For moviegoers to support the notion of The Rock as a 'big-time' star, he would first had to be featured in supporting roles, and then gradually have him take on larger roles. In this way, the public will be more familiar with him, and he would be able to attract a larger audience.

Yeah so why does this make Rock an asshole?

I would love it as much as anyone if the Rock just returned for six months - a year but in the end he wants to be an actor so we just have to respect that. Ihav enever really seen many of his movies. The only one I did see is the Scorpion King which I hated but this is what Rock wants to do.

Damn, Savior will bitch about anything. "Rock makes movies, my mom doesn't love me, my girlfriend is a transvestite hooker..." Boo Hoo...

Anyway, good for Rock. He is making movies and making a shitload of money doing it. He is a true entertainer, and just switched forms of entertainment. Plus he is a hell of alot better than Hulk acting.

But if i ever hear of "Mr. Nanny 2: Icon v. Icon, Nanny v. Nanny" then i will shoot myself.

I think it sounds good.

Or, more appropriately:

From the description, this movie will either be awesome, or be total cheese that licks sweaty, fungal coated balls.

Either way, I bet you'll be shelling out. :p

I Doubt it. It seems like his last movie Walking Tall (Which was a let down) Where rock saves the kids from drugs now Rock saves the kids from them selves. Next Rock will save the kids from SARS. If John Travolta is in it I'll definitly see it though.

I disagree.

All that it will take for mainstream moviegoers to accept the Rock is for him not to totally suck up the action scene. He's been in a couple of summer blockbusters, which will get him into the general public's eye. Meanwhile, he's got diehard wrestling marks willing to hel the grosses, and free promotion on the WWE shows. Neither of these factors would immediately save the day or make a huge difference, but a difference they will make. on top of that, people must be seeing star potential in him, because he's getting a lot of roles. With Hollywood willing to throw money at promoting him, it seems he's got one foot in the door by default.

However, for most people, being labelled a "wrestler" would be a stigmata that would do far more harm than good. The Rock, on the other hand, is the Rock. As obvious and possibly asinine as that sounds, he's had a certain something (likely his raw personality) that has given him a mainstream appeal most wrestlers couldn't hope for. Now, that's not a free trip to the top by any means, but for him, it's not a total liability.
