For all you fans out there (meaning only me :-\ ) Mortiis' new album "the Grudge" has been out for awhile now, though not officially, and I unfortunately have to say that it's a bit disappointing. It's a decent album in the end but compared to the "Smell of the Rain" it just doesn't quite deliver. Half of the 10 songs on the album are pretty meaningless and boring as Mortiis' has gone a bit too much to the techno side from his "normal" slower dark wave style.
But luckily the other half of the album is Mortiis' at his best, songs like "The Grudge", "Le Petit Cochon Sordide", "The Loneliest Thing" and "Twist the Knife" shows that Mortiis' still has "it". (By the way, the first 2 minutes of "the Loneliest Thing" are the 2 most beautiful minutes of music I've ever heard... :'( )
The album does deserve an extra plus from the fact that Mortiis' voice has become more stronger and aggressive and it gives a bit more color to the songs.

I'd give the album 3 out of 5

In the end I'd like to say that anyone who's into "darker" electronical/industrial music should give the album or at least Mortiis a try.

The Smell of Rain and The Stargate are genius. I also like his Long Forgotten Ghost demo from when he left Emperor. Really ambient shit.

The sample I heard from the title track sounded crappy, but I did like the Smell Of Rain...

I'm not into his newer industrial stuff as much as I am into his dark ambient stuff. There's my input.

Industrial? Er, no. Ripping off "dodgy 80s synth pop" doesn't make you industrial. :p

I saw online (his own website, I believe) that he classified himself as industrial, so I went with it...

Linkin Park classifies their cover of NIN's Wish as thrashy industrial.... doesn't make it industrial. :p

Hahahaha, good point.

But then again, Linkin Park probably classifies themselves as good.
