Orton appreciation thread.

The finish:

Benoit hits Orton with some suplexes and keeps in control with more chops. Benoit goes upstairs, seemingly trying for a superplex, but Orton shoves him off onto his back. Orton then hits Benoit with a huge cross body, but only for two. Benoit gets to his feet and climbs the turn buckle but Randy climbs up also they exchange rights until Randy hits the RKO off the top rope. Crowd loves it. Orton gets the 3 count.

Winner: Orton

WTF, edit the topic title bitch. Take "new champ" out of the title, and Orton for the matter, just put "*spoilers*"

The only bad part about this is that now everyone will be jumping on the Orton bandwagon. I laugh at those who thought this would never happen. I laugh at those who were against Orton going into tonight. I laugh. For those who didnt like Orton...well just say hello to your new heavyweight champion.

Orton is the king!

I sorta feel bad for Benoit, after all that time waiting for the World Title... he finally wins it at Mania XX and then has to drop it to a 24 year old. Benoit has been waiting 3/4 of Orton's life to win the title.

Oh well... Canada's Son loses in his country.

Indeed, WrestleMania 21 or XXII would have been better, but we will have to wait and see how is run ends up. Will it be a Kane reign (that rhymed :) ) or will it be a HHH2002 reign.

Well, as much as I wanted Benoit to retain, Orton winning the title will make things interesting if the beginnings of an Evolution break up starts on RAW. Did the RKO look devastating this time?

Check your rep sheet. I am trying to cut back on saying it because it became unfunny and made me seem like an even bigger asshole than I really am (which is really saying something).

Well, even though I think this title change is bullshit at this point... I hope this leads into a feud with Jericho...

James Steele

Exactly, I think Orton and Jericho match up well if Orton can step up to Jericho's level.

I would have loved for Benoit to keep the belt for longer. I'm not saying that Orton won't be a good champion, I just think Benoit deserved that belt for longer. Orton is the same age as my girlfriend, he's still young.

I seriously think RKO won the title alittle too premature. I am not a big Orton mark, but this hurts him or will hurt him all depending on what happens next. It is like they have to keep the belt on him for a long time before he will be seen as a great champ. It is like if Cena becomes champ now. He is a rising star and should be slowly build him up or else he becomes another Brock. But at least this will bring us closer to the Evolution split we are all waiting for and HHH v. Orton.

It will be a test for Orton. To see if he can handle the pressure that comes with being Champ.Im dissappointed Benoit lost. But the fact it was Orton eases the pain.Orton puts on solid matches every night.I was clapping for a good 5 minutes after the match.People think hes not ready. That remains to be disputed but after witnessing it live and seeing the crowd reaction Orton is ready and will be a damn good and entertaining champ.

With the exception of Loose Cannon and maybe a handful of others, I can honestly say I was one o the biggest Orton marks on the forum...(I was even one of ONLY 3 to say he would make the biggest impact of all the new guys back in 2002...take that all you Cena and Lesnar marks!) but I think WWE just prematurly ejackulated. I have used the metaphore of sex when talking about Randy Orton's eventual World Title win...and I am disapointed by them. While yes, this will cause a moment of influx with ratings possibly) it will do nothing to the long term good. I use the referance of Steve Austin...he was certainly World Title worthy for a good 2 years befre he finally won it. He continued with the IC Title division, and while I dont agree on how he finally rid himself of the IC image, I do think that keeping him down for a bit was good not only for him, but also it built up the fact that everyone knew he would one day win the title, and when he FINALLY did it, it was HUGE! Want proof? Two weeks after he won the title, WWE won their first ratings battle with WCW in YEARS! Now think of what would have happened if the WWE gave Austin the Title after King of the Ring 96...he would have been a good champion, and certainly could carry the cmpany for a while, but it wouldn't have had the same impact...awwww well. While I carry loyalty to Orton certainly, we can always hope that Cena does an Austi and continues to carry the U.S. Division for a bit longer and then go into a year long Title Tease...

Oh but on to the point...
