i havent been watching WWE as much due to work, however i think they are taking the piss out of the tag division.

off the top of my head i can only think of 3 tag teams that havent just been thrown together as a stop gap, they are the dudleys, the bashem brothers and la resistance.

correct me if im wrong but all the others just seem to be singles wrestlers put together for no reason. i like the paul london/ billy kidman team and by wearing matching costumes they are making the effort but thats about it.

what happened to the tag division, there were loads at one point:
Legion Of Doom
Demolition
The Hardy Boyz
APA
The rockers
The Heart Foundation
New Age Outlaws
Edge & Christian
The Worlds Greatest Tag Team.

i use to love watching the TLC matches between dudleys, hardys & E & C and at this point the belts ment something, now it seems a bit worthless.

it seems that every time a good team comes along they just get seperated and put in single competition, some are good at this level however it destroys the tag division.

Thoughts?

This is the problem with Tag Team wrestling...it takes 2 guys to make 1 shirt. That is the way WWE breaks it down. How can we sell things. So if you have a tag team T-Shirt or DVD, or whatever merchindise to sell, it would take two guys insead of one. Why bother building up Tag Teams anyway? All anyone wants is an eventual turn of one of them and then a feud, but let's face it that is boring even by WWE standards. I remember the days when the Tag Title was so saught after it passed up the IC title on occasion. I loved those days as well...but they can't last forever. The TLC era was, well, impossibly to pass by mark's eye. Besides, people don't want to take those risks anymore...and the reason it worked so well was you had 2, fairly underused and unknown teams (E&C/Hardys) fighting to be noticed, and the Dudley's fighting to be accepted by the WWF. No one wants to fight that hard anymore. Ratings are down, there is a CLEAR glass ceiling, and moral seems to be fallowing ratings from my understanding so why bother?

Throwing 2 starts together in a Tag Team is good for the WWE right now, and the reason is this. Take Tajiri and Rhyno, both over with the crowd, and both have talent, however there isn't a storyline for them...unless we pair them up...it gets the smarts off their ass and fills the arena with cheers by the marks...win win.

I just wish they had more than 3 teams on each show.

Its funny that they have lots of guys who do very little on the shows, the logical thing would be to throw them in a bunch of tag teams to get them on TV. But that doesn't happen. I guess they figure they only need two tag teams at a time. If you watch RAW or SD there is only one tag team program, for the title. Any other teams dont see the light of TV, unless its to put over the current champs (ie the Bashams or Hurricane/Rosey).

I'd like to see them have more 4 way tag team matches and things like that so ta leats more guys can get involved.

I couldn't agree more. The damnest thing about it is that the WWE thinks they've got everything down to a formula. Start with a well known wrestler, add a dash of push to a midcarder, mix in some TnA and cablamo, you've got entertaiment. The sad thing is we smarks like to think that the Hardyz, E&C, and the Dudleys all revolutionized wrestling, but the truth is they were nothing more than one of the last great pushes given to the tag team division. I wouldn't be the slightest bit surprised if the WWE didn't bring back the Hardcore belt, the European belt, and add in something stupid like the "Jello wrestling championship" belt to replace the tag belts soon. Vince sees tag team matches as a way to hype two PPV matches at once in a night. Nothing more.
