yea there were two different versions written because they got rid of the Director after the first one got written and the new director decided to take it in a different way. They said that thankfully both versions will be released on DvD at the same time.

I heard that one of the directors got hit by a car on set :$.

Also critics didn't get an advanced screening so they reckon that it's meant to be shit.

Actually, the director of the first version was fired after they already wrapped on it. They completely sheleved the movie and hired the new director because the final cut of the other one wasn't what the studio was looking for.

Both versions will come out on DVD though.

Boondock Saint your wrong, the first director died, the second director got fired and the third director got hit by a car, they may think is the exorcist.

Yeah the third was hit by a car, not too sure that the first one died though.

? No. Paul Schrader directed a version of the new Exorcist movie. After it was finished, the studio was not happy with it and therefore fired Schrader, hired Renny Harlin, he reshot a brand new movie and his version is currently in theaters.

And they're both alive.

Unles you meant John Frankenheimer? He did die and was signed on to direct but never directed anything of it.
