MAD enjoyed:

Wall of Fire
Rock's comedy
Eugene's airplane spin

MAD angered by:

Everything I didn't mention!

(And there is a reason why there is 4 pages for that wedding. It was the worst and we watched it all)

I don't think the Kane/HBK feud is going to happen. I think he'll either be made ref for the HHH/Orton match or just make a run in and even the match out when Evolution interferes in it (if the HHH/Orton match goes down of course)

Spitting and running off was kind meh, and the referee coming out never came into play so it could have been so much better that it failed IMO.

So, will Kane and Lita's baby have that weird hairline that starts perfectly halfway back on its head, too?

Lita can't read. She's blowing a promo that's written down on a piece of paper in front of her. Illiteracy has never been funnier.

At least it won't have that Hogan Hairline gene (see Hogan and his nephew Horace). I gotta feeling Hogan's daughter'll be developing that soon.

I thought the Diva Search was fine. I mean, you go into those things expecting them to be pitiful, but Rock made it very entertaining.

Yeah, but you don't watch every week. So some things might be new to you. For someone who doesn't watch every week to come on and say this show was good when a lot of people who do watch every week saying it wasn't is a good thing to hear. It might get you watching next week now. Correct? Well maybe not, but it's a good thing to hear that.

To be honest Raw pissed me off. There were only two matches the whole show..Sure there was a few things to get acrossed but what made it worst was during the two matches there were commercials. How the hell are you gonna have the only two matches of the night both have commercials in them. That pissed me off alot.

Pretty bad show tonight, but that was expected with the wedidng crap.

Rock showing up was great, as usual he was money. He made the Divas segment watchable, which I thought was impossible and he sold for La Resistance, God Bless The Rock!

The big story was the Orton angle. I liked the idea with HHH asking him to hand over the title. I loved the luggie, that was some massive stuff right there. However like LC said, they needed an RKO, and I didn't like that Orton ran off. I dont care if they do play it off as being "smart", no babyface I can every remember got over because people sat there and went "what a brilliant tactical manuever, well played ol chap". He should have kicked all their (Evo) asses in one shot. He could've KO'd HHH with the RKO and then have Flair and Batista bump out of the ring for him, and then they could pull Hunter out of the ring while Orton challenges them to come and get some. Thats how you build up a top level babyface. But what do I know, I mean its not like Ive been watching wrestling very long.

Edge-Jericho was pretty bad, what a useless match/finish. Hopefully if they go at the PPV it is better.

Flair-Regal was too long, and how sad is life for Chris Benoit? Remember when he was the "top guy", or a leat pretended to be?

Oh, memo to WWE, two more RAW's till the next PPV....BOOK SOME MATCHES!!!!!!!!!!

Weddings usually draw good TV numbers. The theory is that more chicks watch (any chicks here? Did your friends all call you up to watch? No? What a shock!) and thats why the numbers are larger. I'm not sure if this one will follow suit just because the product is so cold right now. But if it works, plans are already in the works for a Torrie Wilson-Hiedenreich wedding.

Its wierd and scary at the same time.

Wierd in that this is Hunter's program for the next 7 months, you'd think he'd want to heat up Orton the right way.

And scary because its obvious the people who are writing the television just have no idea how to make a babyface. Maybe someone will watch a Best of Stone Cold, Rock or Hogan and a lightbulb will go off. Maybe when HHH finally turns face.

Its like if you watch back some of the old tapes of Austin fighting the Hart Foundation or the Corporation he would almost always battle the odds and just beat the crap out of everyone. Sure some people will resent that style of booking because its not logical, but people dont want to cheer an average guy, they want to cheer someone who is "superhuman". I mean imagine how popular Spiderman would be if he was constantly booked to run away. I can picture the kids at school "You see when Spiderman saw the odds were against him and he took off through the alleyway? Man Spiderman is the coolest, I ant wait to get into a fight so I can run away!!!".

I thought forsure HHH was eating a Pedigree and I was actually epsecting all three guys to get hit with it just to further establish the move.

Even worse is that its likely that Orton will be dropping the title at Unforgiven. They should be bending over backwards to make him this badass babyface killing Evo left and right, then Hunter gets the title by some cheap tactics and then says Orton will never get a shot. People should be hot to see Orton climb the ladder and get another title shot (ie at the Rumble).

But I'm sure they have an equally effective plan.....or do they?

Average Joe
08-24-2004, 01:27 AM
Great end, terrible beginning.

Diva shit was 30 minutes uninterrupted, and the 20 minute IC Title match had TWO C-breaks. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out something's wrong. We can see where WWE's priorities lie. It seems to me, anyway, that they're depending on their untrained, (pardon the pun) raw diva wannabes to draw TV audiences as opposed to their contracted talent, which is wrong for more than one reason.

Rock came back and did his thing. Just like the last time he was on, he was hit and miss. Funny at times, tried too hard at others. Still worth having on a show, however. The Tag Title picture, at least, got pushed in the diva segment.

I'm liking where the IC Title picture is going. Although I didn't like the match simply because of its overbooking of swerves. Unless they plan on expaning on this lack of referee ineptitude, tonight's match was near-pointless.

Evolution / Orton segment: Great. Sure, it seems weird to have Orton use Evolution's theme, but I like him with it. I'm conflicted. Trips promo was well written and Orton's actions and expressions were enough to sell the feud and the conflict. No words were needed. The segment was very well executed. As was the skit after that. Nice to see Vickytoria on TV, even for a few seconds. And Trips is a super HEEL.

Flair can't wrestle anymore. They should stop putting him in matches. He gets heat, sure, but he can't go more than 5 minutes in the ring. Nice finish though.

And the whole wedding scene: Perfection. Could not have been better. From Kane's theme orchastrated, to the midgets, the black dress, the vows, the bible passage, Trish's interruption, and, of course, THE WALL OF FIRE, this whole segment blew away the 90 minutes of show they had before it. And lastly, that was a sick spot by Matt Hardy (the chokeslam off the stage through the tables, not the Twist of Fate on the floor).

If there were no divas, this would get a 10 out of 10. But sadly, "my ass is hungry" is inexcusable, as is that whole "challenge Carmella to a match whilst eating pie" thing. WTF are these bitches thinking. THE ROCK SAYS EAT PIE, YOU EAT PIE. SHUT YOUR HOLE AND EAT IT. DON'T JUST STARE AT IT, EAT IT. So I give it a 9.

And some other points of information:

Did it seem like the concept of death got mentioned a lot tonight? I must've counted it at least 3 times.

Think the WWE will catch shit about Rock's weed reference? He did say it relatively early in the show, like around 9:15.

Lots of people I know have made this mistake, so I might as well clarify here: Jericho was born in Manhassett, NY. Not Manhattan. Manhassett is a town on Long Island, about 20 minutes or so east of NYC. Ironically, there's a road on Long Island named Jericho Turnpike. About 50 miles long or so.

The CyNick
08-24-2004, 01:30 AM
Yeah I thought Rock's little sperm bank shout out was a little worse than the weed reference, but I did think it was odd he said that stuff. Probably just did it on his own, but who is really going to say anything?

Lara Emily
08-24-2004, 01:32 AM

You're right it was perfect, however you are wrong about one thing. There is one small thing they could've done to make it just a little bit better. They could've aired that shit on Sunday Night Heat and not wasted a friggin half hour of Raw on it. I would've rather watched a political discussion with Eugene than that wedding.

No it shouldn't of benn on SNH...the Regal Flair match should have been replaced with "A political discussion with Eugene." and the Y2J/Edge should have been replaced with the "Highlight reel with Mic foley, oprah and trish stratus in a wheel barrow" AKA Y2Js dream highlight reel.
