The original plan for WWE was to have HHH and Randy Orton come to odds over the next few months, with Orton leaving Evolution to begin a feud with HHH that would culminate in a title match at WrestleMania 21.

The story line was to build over time, so that when the two met in the ring, the fans would be salivating over the thought of the match. However, as ratings continue to dip on Monday nights -- and with the prospect of Monday Night Football right around the corner -- WWE has been forced to accelerate many of its story lines to keep the fans' attention. After his world-title victory over Chris Benoit at SummerSlam, Orton had about 23 hours to celebrate before HHH turned Evolution against the new champion, paving the way for HHH vs. Orton at Survivor Series.

Also, the original plan was to have the Lita-Kane marriage angle play out over the next 3-4 months, finishing in some form of botched wedding in late 2004. That, too, has been scrapped as the numbers drop. The two will be wed on Monday.

SmackDown is not exempt. The drawing board had a SmackDown main event for WrestleMania 21 of Kurt Angle defending the world title against the Undertaker. That program has been rushed, and these two will be main-eventing a PPV in short order.

Maybe WWE suits can do everyone a favor and rush the ending of the Diva search and wrap this mess up in the next two weeks. The skits are downright insulting to wrestling fans.

HEARD AROUND THE RING: Spike Dudley will assume the role of leader of the Dudley Family and will become the group's mouthpiece. ... The Rock has committed to five movies over the next two years and will be seen sparingly over that time. ... The Undertaker was reportedly annoyed after his match with JBL at SummerSlam over the lack of fan reaction.

hmmmm, I could have sworn we are going to see HHH-Orton at Unforgiven based on RAW last night.

I haven't heard any changes to the Angle-Taker and Orton-HHH matches for Mania. The Unforgiven match will be done probably just to get the title on HHH so Orton can chase him to Mania. With Taker, its pretty clear he'll be facing JBL at No Mercy and I wouldn't be suprised to see him take the title at that point.

Judging from the wedding, I think they'll play up Kane as a babyface slowly mind you, but I think eventually he'll grow on Lita and that'll turn him face.

Orton/HHH: I like it better this way. It seems more "in character".

Kane/Lita: "Botched Wedding..." I'll say!

Angle/ Taker: TO be rushed, the title will have to be taken off of JBL and onto some transitionary face. Then again to Angle. That's two PPV's at least. Plus with Taker pushing for a rematch against JBL backstage, it'll be 3 PPV's which would be somewhere around No Way Out. They might as well just wait until WMXXI....

DIva Search: Release them all in the woods and shoot at them with tranquilizer guns. Last one standing gets the money and can go away....or they could oil up a naked deaf man and give the money to the one who can catch him. [/family guy]

Spike: He's got the most charisma of the group. I never understood why he didn't turn heel long before this.

Wait, you're telling me the WWE actually HAS been longterm booking recently????

But rushing things has NEVER worked. I seriously cannot believe how incredibly stupid they are to still fail to realize that quick fixes do not work. It takes EFFORT to BUILD a fan base and keep them attached to LOGICAL and ENTERTAINING angles that show THOUGHT and INTELLIGENCE instead of the crap we're getting now which appears to have been planned within half an house.

Meanwhile, those who are at fault go blaming others for mistakes that they themselves make.

It's absolutely pathetic. I've never been as down about the WWE as I have now... and to think: just half a year ago, leading up to Wrestlemania, wrestling was so crisp, so smooth, so on the rebound.

They've totally dropped the ball.
