Anyway, SD!'s gotten a deluge of newbies lately, and the only good one has been Luther Reigns basically. So what do you think about CCC?

I think he wrestled as Carly Cologne in some dark matches, and I saw him live once during a Raw. He seems like a pretty good wrestler, but the gimmick doesn't look like it'll work unless he's oozing machismo... I mean charisma.

I missed his promo on Smackdown yesterday, so I haven't seen him yet. But, is he a heel? If he is, he might have a good shot at getting over. I've said a number of times that heel characters like this in which:

1) The guy is a decent wrestler
2) The guy plays the gimmick so over the top.

The gimmick has a good chance of getting over. That's why I said if Nova's character is a heel, I think it will work. But he's got to play it so over the top that it's just ridiculous.

Examples of this: Heel Doink, Repo Man (to a lesser extent) Razor, Honky Tonk (Classic example of this. Look at the heat he got) IRS. All of these might of looked crap on paper, but did well in generating heat. Some, in the case of Doink, Razor and Repo, started getting cheered later on.

He's OVW, Carlos Colon... son of Peurto Rican wrestling legend Carlos Colon sr., I believe.

His promo's on WWE.com, for those who haven't seen it... basically he's walking down a Caribbean boardwalk, big old afro, dress pants and short sleeve button down shirt... checking out some ladies, some badass swanky music playing in the background.

The whole time he's got a Scarface/Razor Ramon accent (hence "you" will be denoted as "ju" ;) )

"Ju know cool iss? Ju're lookin' at it!"

*comes to a fruitstand and takes an apple and takes a bite out of it*

"Cool is what ju make it."

*slams apple back down on the stand causing other fruits to tumble, grabs another apple*

"And there's no cool... like Caribbean cool."

*takes a bite out of the other apple*

"But some people... don't want to be cool."

*music stops, Carlito looks at the old man tending the stand*

"Like this guy." *spit* "AND I SPIT IN THE FACE OF PEOPLE WHO DON'T WANT TO BE COOL! [something in his native tongue]"

Just saw the promo. I like him. I'm going to wait until I see him in the ring, but so far he's pretty cool (no pun intended). Great character, Good Look, and he just comes off like a total jackass. But someone you don't want to fuck with. He needs to use that music as his theme that you heard in the BEG. of the promo. Maybe mix it up a little so it sounds less generic, but it's a good beat for him.

I think he's got a great shot at getting over, especially on Smackdown. We'll just have to see how he works in the ring.

I can see this working as long as they aren't afraid to push him. Just a thought, maybe he will not be called Carlito Caribbean Cool won't be his name? He could call himself Carlito Colon, and use "Caribbean Cool" as a catchphrase or alias.

His persona is great. Obviously. What I'm afraid of is management screwing things up by making him wear ugly tights, shitty music etc etc

I think they need to give Carlito theme music that's got lyrics to it. Like Eddie Guerrero's theme. Give it structure and maybe see how many words they can rhyme with cool.

His tights should reflect his "I am cool, and you're not." persona, so they should be original, and look like something that would be regarded as ugly by most. His finishing move needs to be original, too. I'm thinking maybe something like an Orange Crush or Emerald Fusion. I wouldn't be surprised if they called it "Cuban Cigar Crusher" or something to utilize three "C"s. I would mark out if he had a finisher off the top rope called Air Colon. :shifty:

I'd love to see him come to the ring and talk about the three "C"s to coolness. Caribbean...Carlito...Colon.

I'll like his gimmick if he's used to always talk about being cool, and coolness all the time. I see his character being a face, but actually a heel. He should say things in his mind that makes him a good guy, but in everyone elses eyes they things he says should be viewed as mean, and put downs. It would be neat for him to not really know that he's pissing people off. That's just my opinion though. I look forward to seeing him, and hoping the WWE doesn't "Ernest" him.

When I heard about the promo I really wanted to hate it, btu I have to say I was rolling when I watched it. Its funny in a cheesy kind of way,a nd the gimmick isn't so over the top that he cant be taken seriously. So if they push him right (slow and steady) it could work.
