This is an appreciation thread for ECW.

ECW was my favorite promotion until it folded in early 2001. The innovative (:y:)storylines and hardcore matches gained admiration and respect from fans around the world. The wrestlers gave 110% everytime they stepped out in front of the crowd and always sent the crowd home happy.

Most of the feuds in ECW spawned fantastic matches, Raven vs. Sandman, Raven vs. Dreamer, Awesome vs. Tanaka, RVD vs. Lynn, Super Crazy vs. Tajiri

Dumb mutants...I loved ECW...I honestly don't think even 20 people on these boards had ever even seen an RVD match before he came to WWE. I love that everyone claims to be huge fans of it, yet they can't list ACTUAL classic matches because they didn't appear on the best of DVDs...you want the best of ECW, fu</>cking look to Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit's early ECW career...I am so sick of hearing about how great RVD and JL were...yes it was a good program, yes they had 3 good matches, but for christ sake there was more to that company then RVD/JL...and sorry but Raven isn't a draw. I love the man, but he couldn't sell out a 500 seat arena. (except when he was with Stevie...I don't know why it made sense, but somehow they pulled off a kick ass team)

ECW should have been called ECB (B for brawling), because with the exception of a handful of guys, there was no wrestling. Tommy Dreamer is not a wrestler, he is a side show carnival act. Van Dam is not a wrestler, he is a show man. Sandman is not a wrestler, he is a human punching bag. Don't get me wrong, it had it's place in the world and I loved it, but for the love of god it is done and over with, it's impact on wrestling was NOT big...and that who storyline/new attitude comparision...ECW ripped off their angles from Japanise companies, so their not revolutionary either. It was fun, it was great, and now it's done. Get over it. And go back to your mama's basements you damn ECW Mutants!

Favorite ECW Moments

- I don't care what The One says, the RVD/Lynn series was some of the best technical wrestling of the last decade. Yes, there were hardcore elements to the matches (Van Daminators, Lynn almost killing himself tumbling to the floor), but the core of the series was the counter-counter-counter style of both men.

- Francine betraying the Pitbulls and allying with Shane Douglas at the end of the phenomenal Douglas vs. PBII vs. Jericho vs. Scorpio match for the Television Title.

- The crowd reaction when "Natural Born Killaz" would hit the speakers.

- Joey Styles. "Oh, my GAHD!" Plus, the way he would call finishers and his near-trademark "Catfight! Catfiiiiiiiiiiight!"

- My first exposure to lucha libre.

- Shane Douglas getting disqualified (!) because Francine bit Terry Funk.

- Raven, Taz, and Joel Gertner promos.

- The crowd cheering who they liked, not who they were supposed to like.

- Perry Saturn dropping the elbow off the scaffolding at the end of the abysmal Eliminators vs. Williams/Gordy match. Honestly, if it wasn't for that spot, I would never watch that match.

- Three-way dances. Stairway to hell. Double jeopardy. High impact.

-Tajiri vs. Psicosis. This was Psicosis's return to ECW in 2000, him and Tajiri put on one amazing match

-Yeah what loopy said, anytime "Natural Born Killaz" hit, somebody was getting fucked up

......Public Enemy being buried under a shit load of chairs, anytime RVD would pull the guardrail close to the ring and then somersault plancha into the crowd, and who could forget the Arabian Face Buster.

But I guess my all time favourite moment from ECW was when Rhyno had taken RVD's vacated TV title because he broke his leg. "Walk" fires up, out comes Van Dam on Scotty Rigg's shoulders, hops in the ring, ducks a Rhyno clothesline and then puts him through a table

Best parts of ECW were Taz, Shane Douglas' shoot when he through down the Eastern Championship Wrestling title, Rey and Juvi (amongst others), Malenko, Guererro, Jericho, Benoit, Storm and Lynn. Also, any of the actual wrestling matches usually were great, there was quite a bit of garbage too however (Sabu, Dreamer *both in the booth and in the ring*, New Jack, Balls, ect)

Nothing could beat an ECW crowd. Those few hundred to at most 1000 fans were louder than most WCW and WWF crowds.
