Terrible.

Fucking Crouching Tiger bullshit. I hate those movies. So disappointed.

The cinematography was fucking gorgeous. But the movie was ugh. Boring as fuck. I didn't give a shit about any of the characters and their supernatural skills. God damn it. Making me mad. Fucking pretentious bullshit. Talking about the power of swords and calligraphy and shit. God.

It's a Jet Li Movie, what the fuck did you expect? Hell, the previews show that clearly. This fucking reeks of Once Upon A Time In China and Iron Monkey and half of all of his movies. Stuff like Kiss Of The Dragon are one offs.

I'll probably watch it though as kung fu movies = greatness.

If you know what to expect then it's f</>ucking great. But if you don't like that sorta thing then yeah, I can see how you might be feeling let down :$

I've heard nothing but praise for this film. I wanna see it. Kinda irks me with the whole Tarantino presents thing but they must have figured most people in this country are scared of the thought of having to read subtitles during a movie (heavens no!), smart marketing ploy indeed. Made some nice moneys this weekend. Especially for a foreign subtitled film.

I thought it was incredibly impressive. Excellent martial arts, elaborate and elegant symbolism, a good overall theme, and great cinematography. I thought it was excellently done for what it was.

When I got tickets, the chick at the booth was like, "you are aware that the movie is foreign with english subtitles?" Mad people complained I bet.

when I saw it they where like you know its in subtitles, right? I stood there so confused thinking she was saying it was sold out or something then finally I managaed to get a yes out.
As for the Tarantino presents thing it got the extra 20 minutes back in the movie that they originally wanted to take out. Tarantino only let them use his name if they added back the 20 minutes.
For the movie I thought it was pretty good. Nothing great but pretty good.

They aren't showing it in my theater, so I'm gonna have to wait till it comes out on DVD.

I have Once Upon a Time in China on DVD and I fucking loved it. The first 10 minutes are kinda rough to get through on the subtitled version, so I went through the English dubbed which has things taken out, loved that, THEN watched subtitled.

I've seen the first 3, with the second being my favourite. Apparently, there are six movies in the series.

i saw the trailer today, don't think it's out here for a while. I kind of liked the look of it, but it looked a bit ridiculous though.

Have you seen Dolls yet?

Jet Li is hit or miss with me. I thought it looked pretty cool from the trailers and I haven't seen Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon so I dont really know what to expect. Those revenge/redemption style movies can be entertaining though

Its much less of an action movies than the previews made it out to be.

It is bullshit. Jet Li talks to the king or whatever and starts telling him the story of what happened. Their dialogue is so boring. Then there's all this shit about the power of the sword, and this guy finding the meaning of the sword because he does calligraphy and all this stupid shit. And it's like WAY OVER-ARTSY and boring. Mad pretentious. It was making me sick.

The movie was also too, like, out of this world. Everyone was flying and doing all this supernatural shit. If I want to watch a shitty movie like that I can watch some super hero movie or some sci-fi bullshit. I hate those movies. I thought the movie would actually have a decent, relatable story. But it didn't, AT ALL. I hated all of the characters.

Isnt there some crap about the color of their clothing in the flashbacks meaning different things or something? Like perception of what happened, what really happened, etc etc

So I've heard...haven't read exactly what each is supposed to mean but I can well believe it having seen it.

Last I heard it got pushed back to November. There is a copy with the English subs floating around on the torrent network somewhere, 's how I already saw it.

BTW go see Infernal Affairs 2

Triple A, you liked Kill Bill and it had exagerated martial arts. How does this compare?

Jet Li has a habit of making shit movies. Too bad, cause he's promised me a gem. I'd probably still see it though, I might like it.

I liked Kill Bill, not loved. I liked it because it was a "fun movie". And it wasn't exaggerated in the way Hero is. In Hero they fly around trees and shit like in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

In one sense you can think of it and the other films like it as comic book films, the characters ability to fly and so on isn't really too far distanced from stuff like Superman or X-Men.

This movie was produced by the same people as "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" so that explains the fighting.

Meaning of Colors from IMDB

"In the flashbacks, the characters' costumes go from red (imagination) to blue (perceived reality) to white (truth). In the final flashback, the costumes are green (enlightenment/peace)."

Where do you live? Because I'm pretty sure this movie has been released about everywhere other than America a couple of years ago.

The movie was great. It's not a plot or character driven movie, it's not even an action driven movie. The charm and the brillance is in the beauty of the colours of the scenerary, the setting, the wardrobe. It's in the general art nature of the film. I thought the dialoguse was great though. The story is classic folklore , and the lesson behind it was superb. Fantastic film.

They started showing it at my theater last week and I just got in to watch it last night with my grandpa.

I love Hong Kong films, and this film was no exception for me. Great cinematography, I really liked the story with all the talk about honor and the metaphors with the swords.

Every friend I have in my school who's seen the movie said they hated it because it was in subtitles and the fight scenes were boring. Then, they go on to praise Without a Paddle.
